Perhaps reps should think twice before they choose to speak to patients in such a manner. I'm not exactly Miss Manners but a little more respect should be in order.

I understand your point, however, regardless, I've seen hideous behavior on this board and to be frank, it doesn't represent either the industry or the profession in a positive light.I agree that patients should be treated with respect. However, it is important to remember that on an anonymous chat board, the people who put forth all of those callous comments may or may not be reps, or may be reps from competitor companies. You shouldn't take any of those comments as representing the views of anyone other than the person who posted them.

Positive light. Give me a break! I have seen so many docs bought off by industry that if patients knew what influenced their physicians they would be appalled, and demand that all medical sales be stopped.

Wow, you are an asshat. Everyone has the right to care about feeding their family. They don't have a fundamental right to be an asshat while doing it. Perhaps you should find a different line of work that both pays well and you enjoy and then you may be less of an asshat.

Patients do NOT pay for pharma. Patients pay for insurance, which for the most part, is underwritten by their employers or our tax dollars. Do you think that for one second that patients would be willing to pay out of pocket for Gylenia, or any other ms med, if managed care/medicare suddenly decided to stop paying? The fact that patients take an active role in their treatment is made possible by insurance companies who have decided to add various options to the formulary. That's it. End of story.
Try to submit a claim for CCSVI to your insurance carrier and see what happens
Patients on drug are an end result of a process that starts with R&D and ends with commercial promotion. Until someone can come up with a model that encourages innovation without $$$ investment, this is what we've got.
Thank you Captain Obvious. Regardless of above, cure the patient, there is no money for pharma. That is why pharma (not just Novartis) pathetically pushes crap to market while hiding detrimental data. No, patients may not be paying out of pocket, but they are the fundamental reason for the money train to leave the station. Patients are not incidental to the process.
Sadly liberation treatment is 50% the cost of on an annual prescription of Gilenya. It may be a one-time fix. I'm sure if the research indicates validiy, many MS patients would find a way to pay for it and leave pharma/biotech high and dry.
Hate to burst your little bubble but insurance and medicare are covering CCSVI treatment. Mine was covered and I only paid $150.00. Funny as I just read a news story of how the pharma bubble is the next to pop because of the false trial data coming from trials oversees.
Oh and I have not touched any of your poisons for over two years now. I also tell anyone new that Gylenia is the worse poison out there next to Tysarbi.
