I find it interesting that the thread that discussed CCSVI was removed. I have seen far more offensive posts on this board as well as this site.

Is there that much fear in the industry?

Do you care what patients think?

It is a little disapointing to say the least.

They removed it to late. it was copied and spread (still spreading) all over the internet. These people should be ashamed!

Who should be ashamed? The people that responded in such a callous fashion? Or the people spreading it on the internet.

Perhaps reps should think twice before they choose to speak to patients in such a manner. I'm not exactly Miss Manners but a little more respect should be in order.

Remember, patients are the ones ulitimately responsible for pharma's paycheck.

I agree that patients should be treated with respect. However, it is important to remember that on an anonymous chat board, the people who put forth all of those callous comments may or may not be reps, or may be reps from competitor companies. You shouldn't take any of those comments as representing the views of anyone other than the person who posted them.

I understand your point, however, regardless, I've seen hideous behavior on this board and to be frank, it doesn't represent either the industry or the profession in a positive light.

Positive light. Give me a break! I have seen so many docs bought off by industry that if patients knew what influenced their physicians they would be appalled, and demand that all medical sales be stopped.

you really are a narcissistic moron. go back to posting on the teva board, the biogen board or better yet...your ironing board.

stupidity and ignorance don't discriminate. the fact that you claim to be a patient does not preclude you from neither the former nor the latter.

you, patient1, come on these boards to bait, insult and otherwise stir the pot. then, when someone posts a reaction, you act indignant and throw the 'I'm the patient and I deserve respect' card. It's getting very old.

It seems that stupidity and ignorance does't discriminate against Novartis reps either. Patient1 is correct. Patients pay our salaries. Doesn't matter which type of patient MS or other so a little respect is in order.

The posts on this board sometimes make me completely embarassed to be a rep.

In response to the above statement, patients don't pay our salaries. It is all about the almighty dollar..... the stockholders and the ROI. They pay our salaries. Yes, granted if patients don't want to go on our products, we will not succeed as a company. Therefore, we say that patients come first but in reality the dollar comes first. And yes, I was totally embarassed by that thread. In reality you never know who is posting.. could be competitors trying to smear our name ... or it could be insensitive, inconsiderate Novartians. Respect on cafe pharma is hard to find. Wouldn't look on this site!

If you're embarrassed, quit. I do not make enough money to bite my tongue. I will say it again. I only care about feeding my family. I could care less about the patients.

Wow, you are an asshat. Everyone has the right to care about feeding their family. They don't have a fundamental right to be an asshat while doing it. Perhaps you should find a different line of work that both pays well and you enjoy and then you may be less of an asshat.

Ignorance really must be bliss.

Patients do NOT pay for pharma. Patients pay for insurance, which for the most part, is underwritten by their employers or our tax dollars. Do you think that for one second that patients would be willing to pay out of pocket for Gylenia, or any other ms med, if managed care/medicare suddenly decided to stop paying? The fact that patients take an active role in their treatment is made possible by insurance companies who have decided to add various options to the formulary. That's it. End of story.

Try to submit a claim for CCSVI to your insurance carrier and see what happens

Patients on drug are an end result of a process that starts with R&D and ends with commercial promotion. Until someone can come up with a model that encourages innovation without $$$ investment, this is what we've got.

Thank you Captain Obvious. Regardless of above, cure the patient, there is no money for pharma. That is why pharma (not just Novartis) pathetically pushes crap to market while hiding detrimental data. No, patients may not be paying out of pocket, but they are the fundamental reason for the money train to leave the station. Patients are not incidental to the process.

Sadly liberation treatment is 50% the cost of on an annual prescription of Gilenya. It may be a one-time fix. I'm sure if the research indicates validiy, many MS patients would find a way to pay for it and leave pharma/biotech high and dry.

Hate to burst your little bubble but insurance and medicare are covering CCSVI treatment. Mine was covered and I only paid $150.00. Funny as I just read a news story of how the pharma bubble is the next to pop because of the false trial data coming from trials oversees.
Oh and I have not touched any of your poisons for over two years now. I also tell anyone new that Gylenia is the worse poison out there next to Tysarbi.

Total bullshit.

Post a copy of your EOB. then we can talk

It's spelled G-I-L-E-N-Y-A you moron.

Why is it when no one has anything relevant to say, they pick on spelling or result to a stupid insult.

The name of the drug changed so many freakin' times before it hit the market, no wonder people are confused on spelling.

Even new stories spelled it incorrectly.
