Guess Who Assigns Goals To Territories In Your Area?

Your managing director does! This was told to me by the man in my area himself. I am a manager and was told that the managing director has the ability to make or break you. If you have a high goal, consider yourself on your way out because this is how the last layoff worked. This all started when CCI began a couple of years ago. Everyone that was laid off can thank their MD. They actually control everything at a local level and yes HR does what they say. The company did not want to be liable for who was laid off so they put it back on the managing directors. They had a plan of action in place from the beginning and let's just say that the layoff was not randon. You were targeted for a number of reasons but bottom line is that the managing directors are evualated on a profit/loss margin and if your salary was high, it penalizes them and they wanted you gone period. They didn't care if you could sell since their performance review was based on P/L margins. It also gave them the power to use their biased judgement of if they liked you or not. This is not the way to run a business and will crash in due time.
 






If you are in fact a manager, thanks for the information. I've suspected this for some time. I'm probably one of the highest paid reps in the room, and I can see the door from where I'm sitting. Goals are absolutely unattainable. I'm sure the door will hit me in the ass on the way out just as it did on the way in.
 












Managers have meetings and discuss reps. Managers do what they are told when it comes to reps or else. (Force Rank) There were reps who were laid off who was going to win pres club. I know one who was targeted due to the previous MD targeting her. Did you notice that your goals were increased a lot more than others in district? They probably thought you wouldn't make the goals and didn't care either. They were hoping the stress would make you quit. It was never confirmed that you were going to win Pres club due to you not getting the last incentive report. You can't prove that you were going to win even though I am sure you were. This is why reps that were laid off did not recieve a performance review. They also never received the last incentive report. Did you also notice that they stopped sending ranking reports 6 months before layoff. Also, if you did win pres club they would have to give you a raise, stock opitons, Etc. and this would cut into their Profit Loss Equation. They got ahead due to not giving you a raise, stock options, etc.

Several months ago DMs were apparently asked to rank reps on several criteria. When evaluating values and behaviors, perception can sometimes be taken as truth. Sales reps that play the game better, lie better, put forth false BDPs and suck up the best are perceived as more valuable employees. Perhaps managers didn't know why they were asked to rate their people nine months ago. As a result, all the managers favorite employees were spared their postions despite tenure, ranking, geography, presidents club etc. In my area all the reps in each pod that everyone knew were the DMs pets were spared their positions. Has anyone else noticed this? In my area it is painfully obvious that "the pets" were spared. One rep who was spared is related to one of the DMs. Again, I have a feeling even the DMs weren't aware of why they were asked for certain information. I think they know now.

This was NOT unbiased and I doubt even legal.
 






Former DM....Ask Arkansas managers how this lay-off was orchestrated. Cornrad presented a PP presentation to managers on the highest salaried, dates of hire, and that most were not producing that of sales consultants. He was after the highest paid which are the older seasoned reps. (lawyers could use this BIG time!) His P&L had to look good for Menneweanie so he had his mgrs keep the young and the restless (and brown nose kool aid drinkers) over the experienced and higher paid (due to leveling which by the way was earned) His numbers are wrong because his data is wrong, however, that did not prevent his discriminatory presentation. Go Razorbacks!
 






Please do not be that dumb. MDs do not assign the goals. Do you really think in todays environment that the company would allow this across all the Regions. It is done with one system run by the CSO Group. Fact!!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree that this company does give goals that are unreasonable but the MDs are not assigning and there is no way they are reviewing REPs salaries in making decisions. You see I know I work inside!!!!
 






Your trying pretty hard to discredit the truth. We know you do not want reps to know this info but see you gave yourself away with your reaction. Nobody will tell the reps where the goals come from and why certain repsp goals go up twice as much as others. This info came from my boss who is an md. Everyone needs to go back and read your response. It is a dead giveaway.

This person worked for a famous ICON & is very talented at what he does
& is armed with the latest technology for goal setting standards.
Namely a dart & a dart board with various % increases
His name is bubbles the chimp.

My FLM told me a couple weeks ago that she could lower my goals to something more reasonable (she's BFF with the MD) but that would mean someone else's goals would have to go up to balance it out. Yeah, maybe the HQ Goal Fairy initially assigns goals, but the MD changes them when they want.
