Got the Call-Going to HAWAII!

See the rest of you in Hawaii! I have been here 4 years and this is my first one! Any recommendations on what to do in Maui? Thinking of going early with my husband?

Thanks

Congrats on your win to Maui. Please, do not use it to sit at the bar and drink...not a good recommendation of how to spend your time or how to impress uppermanagement...it IS still a business meeting....and you can drink to excess any time...why waste Hawaii!

If you go in early...or stay late...rent a convertable or a jeep (convertable jeep) and take the road to Hana. It is incredible. It will take you all day...it's about 20 miles, but it will honestly take you all day and into the night...google it...buy one of the "road to hana" guides...take every side road you can. Pack a picnic lunch with lots of snack and don't drink too much as the drive is cut into the side of the mountains and is very narrow and the curviest road you will ever experience. Remember the opening scene to Jurrasic Park...filmed in Hawaii...great experience.

Take advantage of the the adventures that Allergan offers...and do the things that you cannot do at home...whale watching...you can do this from a boat for from a kayak, if offered. Some people love to horseback ride. if you are a golfer, play the course a kapalua...it's the home of the skins game...beautiful course. I have a picture of my boyfriend putting...and when I opened it up on the laptop...there were two whales breaching in the background...
There used to be a group that rented motorcycles one day and went for a drive...not an allergan sponsored thing, but a good suggestion.
The shopping trips are pretty lame...the places they take you are mostly t-shirt shops...and touristy jewelry shops. stuff you can find at home.
Fishing is fun...try your hand at surfing...the hotel has free lessons...you can do that on a half day before or after another event.
ALSO, check the times that adventures start...and finish. you will not want to be out on a boat whale watching...getting back at 5pm the night of the formal...cause you will want to look your lovliest...also don't book an adventure for first thing the next morning...cause you will be too tired! Do a couples massage on the beach, even if you have to pay a bit of an upcharge...it could cause you to have children later this year!
Go up the mountain to watch the sunrise then ride the bikes down...
pick your restaurants not by who's going...but where they are and the food....eat local seafood! Request a table outside so you can watch the sunset...romantic! You can hear it sizzle as it hits the water!
Order breakfast on your balcony and eat in your jammies and/or bathrobes...
Take a helicopter ride ...lots of reallly great ones...expensive, but hey...you're not paying for the trip over or the food, so do some great stuff.
hike the rainforest...you can do that on the road to hana...lots of waterfalls and swimming holes...black sand beaches.
YOu do not have to stay on Maui if you go in early...but don't spend any time on Oahu except going to Pearl Harber with your box of kleenex. The rest of the island is crowded and touristy...The Big Island of Hawaii has the active volcano.
And if you get a chance...get frisky on the balcony one night...under the stars...and you will see soooo many stars...it's incredible...
It can be very cool at night and windy...so take something appropriate...
I've been 8 times now...enjoy it every time! Go to a bookstore and check out the Frommer's Guide books to Hawaii...
while your hubby is doing something else, take a hula lesson and surprise him...he will like it!

Good luck & have fun!

Are you a travel agent or what? Who the hell wants to read that much shit on hawaii...read the first line and realized you were for real.........does anyone care what you can do there and if you have to get your ideas from this post you don't deserve to go......

no dear, i am an allergan rep who has been to hawaii with leadership 8 times. i am so disappointed when i read these board responses and find people like you. and the ones who can do nothing but post negative responses. and the ones who have to make fools of themselves posting things like give him a "blow job". this board has been taken over by a very low element.
and if you didn't want to read that much about hawaii, then you shouldn't have read it. you obviously have not been on any leadership trip or you would appreciate what you can do in hawaii (maui-Ritz, Maui-Four Seasons, Maui-Grand Wailea,Big Island) or cabo, or paradise island, or a cruise in the carribean. If you would adjust your attitude you might get a chance to EARN a trip.

CONGRATS to the people who earned the trip this year, and to the person who is considering spending extra time, I hope my post helped you out a bit. Have a GREAT time. The trip is the biggest motivator you will ever have to make leadership again.!

Seriously, that is the best post I have ever read. I appreciate your time and effort in all you said. You give me hope for this board. good luck and I hope to see you in Atlantis!
