Goodbye to diversity at BMS

1. Top lobbyist in DC (black, female) is GONE and replaced by a white male
2. All DEI employees eliminated, every last one
3. Clinical trial diversity is considered a RISK area, not basic biology

Wow!

DEI programs are in place so that less qualified white people do not take up all the jobs. Race should never be included in job applications as a mandatory requirement. Veteran and disability status should be noted after the job is offered. The hiring team should be blinded for names and gender.

As you know DEI programs have always been misused. This was certainly the case during the Biden years. Thankfully DEI has been put back into the casket hopefully never to return.

BMS ELT jst appoints friends to roles here. Nothing is blinded because there are no interviews.

DEI makes it so less qualified non-white people get jobs over a more qualified candidate, if that candidate happens to be white. It's affirmative action and it serves no purpose in the professional arena. If you think white people hold any advantage at being hired over anyone else, you are racist and delusional.

You are in wonderland. You are not Alice but the Mad Hatter.
They hold no advantage ya, you have the best ELT. The best in the world known to bring employees to the streets since 2022. All white? No?

Let's get real, this is not about diversity, it's about who you know. The roles I've applied for at BMS get filled with a candidate who has been at BMS for years. It doesn't matter the color of your skin, gender, skills, or experience, if you're in the club, you're golden!

Many interviews across Pharma are fake. They are conducted only for records purposes as hiring decisions have been made. Ghosting is unbelievably high by recruiters. Be aware of the information they collect including all your personal information. Ascertain that the recruiters are real before sharing anything. Many have AI generated pictures on LinkedIn and few are not in this country but have addresses and phone numbers from here. Terrible terrible Pharma HR individuals who act God in selecting the candidates to move forward. They pitch one person against another and fake that they are working for you only for one job. With many looming layoffs, be aware. Once you indicate you are open to hire, you will hear from a swarm of them. Most are useless. They will sell you worthless jobs without any shame or understanding. It is a complete disaster out there. More job creation is required for everyone entry level through 60 years. Salaries and bonuses of ELT should be reduced drastically to accommodate for more jobs.

Pharma HR and recruiters are in cahoots with each other. They play into applicant vulnerability. After an initial call, they send out surveys for their service and you are forced to give a great review because you are applying through them. After completing the survey, there are huge possibilities of ghosting. Horrible job market. This is the time for the rich and not for regular working people. So stop all this DEI nonsense talk and help anyone you can. Remember, your tax dollars will be used for unemployment benefits.

Right, I am the racist one when you are relating the company's poor leadership to them all being white. Racism against white people doesn't exist right? I'm not even white & I think DEI is bullshit. I want the leadership team to be the best possible and the most qualified; regardless of race. DEI is 100% against that and promotes hires based on race. Do you see the problem here?

I see the problem but it started because DEI is being used too many times in a meaningless futile manner. You don’t want anyone to use “white”, then stop using DEI. Worthless and outstanding people are in all races. Everyone cannot be super smart and everyone cannot be in ELT. Basic understanding. You need two to tango.

Bottom line, you can't run programs that advantage one group solely at the expense of one group based only on skin color.
Affirmative action was first used in 1935 in the Wagner Act, a federal law that gave workers the right to start and join unions. John F. Kennedy was the first president to use the term to mean advancing racial equality.

The term was originally meant to convey that the government should act affirmatively to end race and gender discrimination. But critics have equated affirmative action with racial quotas and preferences that they say give unfair advantages to people of color and discriminate against white people.

How have white women benefited from affirmative action?

Discussions about affirmative action tend to focus on race, but statistics show that it also has been an equalizer for white women in education and in the workplace.

A Labor Department report in 1995 found that since the 1960s, affirmative action had helped 5 million members of minority groups and 6 million women move up in the workplace.

The problem with your position is the assumption people of an underrepresented race are not the most qualified. The point of programs is based on the history of very qualified people not getting opportunities because of their race. The intent is not to favor one group over another.

True
The history of the people and how they have lived and perceived even today has to be noted critically. Race and gender issues are prominent in society even today and will remain. A feeling of superiority of a person or community is not going away anytime soon. Even Some (not all) who accept everyone equally tend to have condescending or superiority feeling over others, be it in a leadership position or race or nature of a person or anything else. These are very deep discussions and not everyone has an open mind or ability to delve into them honestly.
