GOODBYE GENENTECH - the final straw

So today I finally serve my divorce papers in my marriage to, what was once, the best company to work for in the Bay Area. Why ? Some bright spark of a senior VP in SSF has decided to save some $$ by squeezing in as many people into a few floors in Building 83 at Gateway. Great, he'll meet his savings targets but the company will end up losing much more - like all the good people who have been downgraded to a cube, people like me, managers, all have had what was the only piece of 'status' left to cling to now taken away as their career prospects evaporated over the last few years courtesy of Mr Roche. I move into my new 'home' soon, well guess what I'll be doing from there on in ? Not my job, no, looking for a new one and getting the hell away as soon as I can. Goodbye Genentech - it's been a trip - but one that has now ended. Oh, that VP ? The one that ultimately will cost you much more $$ than his few million saved ? - make sure he gets his bonus next year, won't you.

You cannot possibly be a true Genentechie at heart if what's most important to you is the size of your office. Hope you get a whole floor to yourself in t your new "home"

So let me get this straight, you are blessed with a godd job, at a way above average salary, great benefits, etc. And you want to quit because you have to work in a cubicle? Well GOOD RIDDANCE! Its better they save millions by maximizing space, than firing people.

Dude there are no jobs like the one you have/had...they all left...gone baby gone. You'll have to go to India or China to find it mi amigo. Good luck and god speed=)
