Good luck to you this week

I heard from an office in MI that your company's major restructuring is happening this week. Good luck to all of you - every time one of these occurs, all of us pharma reps/mngrs feel the pain. It's not easy for us during any company's cut, whether we have gone thru one personally, or have watched others be laid off. But the industry is changing, and has to make hard decisions. Again, good luck.

I am thinking of you all as well. I have been through this several times, I have made it and I have not made it. Here's my advice:

1. When all is said and done there will be no rhyme or reason to who stays or who goes.

2. If you keep your job, try not to feel guilty about the ones who lost theirs, you will feel guilt, sadness and a real loss. But, in this economy thank your lucky stars you have a job.

3. For those who go, some will rejoice, some will be angry, some will be at a loss. My big advice for you....enjoy your summer. Go have some fun on full pay. I remember feeling so desperate to get another job that I forgot to enjoy some time off on full pay.

4. The bitterness for those who stay and those who go will pass eventually, just get through it.

Thanks for the well-wishes. I've been fortunate to have never gone through a layoff until now, but it's always been unsettling to watch other reps go through it over the years. I've known it was just a matter of time for the rest of us. This industry as we've known it is no longer. The most we can hope for is to hang on for a couple of more years, planning & preparing the entire time for our exit plan. If I make this cut, I'm committed to that. If I don't, I'm prepared (I think) for what lies ahead. Very, very small chance of remaining in pharma and a very, very good chance of making much less. So long big bonuses that pay for a week-long snow ski vacation in Colorado. Hello camping in a tent on a river 2 hours away instead...

Remember, the pussy and good rim jobs feel the same down by the river as they do up in the mountains of Colorado. Just trying to focus on the positives of our situation. Good luck to everyone.

We are screwed. There are few jobs. 1000 resumes for one position for alkermes. I can't express enough how bad it is out here. I have been unemployed for 16 months in michigan. I have lost my wife my kids my car. I am living with my parents now at 41 years old. I want someone to pay for this.

If you are over 35 with 5 years in this industry you are over, through. Scum recruiters won't even call you back. Jeff macdonald is an asshole that does not call you back. Fuck him, recruiter scum.

Hmmm, if you are 41 and lost your wife & kids, please don't blame it on your job loss! Take a long look in the mirror dude, YOU have made many bad choices and were not prepared!
1. Grow up. You're not in College anymore!
2. Take responsibility for your family. Don't blame them for all of this.
3. Always save enough for 6 months of not working. (commom sense 101)
4. Don't spend more than you make.
5. Stay out of the bars. Misery loves company!
6. Change your attitude! Start over new today looking at the world in a positive manner. It will change everything about you.
7. Look outside of pharma for a job. There are jobs out there, but as long as you are bitter, no one will want you. You are blaming someone else for everything, and the truth is, even though you were laid off, you are the one to blame for loosing your family. Make it right with them and start rebuilding your life. Good luck!

Anger management classes might help as well buddy...wow! Blaming recruiters for your misfortune is a chicken shit move, like the other poster said, "look in the mirror and take responsibility for your own actions"...remember dipshit, recruiters only get paid if they place candidates, if your presentable/placeable for their client than you will be the first person they call.....DUHHHHHHHHHHH

You went all the way back to last June on here to find this? And, this is the best you could come up with? Wow! Spend just a little time in the field, sparky.
