Generic Zyvox is the end of the Institutional sales force

That the real reason for the intense pressure with this division. Can't fault upper management for putting the screws to the reps because Teflaro only has a 2.5 year shelf life. Linezolid goes generic in March 2015.

Huh? Just like it was the "end" of linezolid when vancomycin went generic? Zyvox isn't that great of a drug and it's patent life is irrelevant.

Zyvox has a PO option with the more indications than Vancomycin including MRSA CABP. It's as effective as Vanco and has a good safety profile. When it goes generic it will be pennies vs $80 a day. Teflaro is toast.

Zyvox does not have an indication for CABP at all. It has an indication for MRSA pneumonia (HCAP or HAP). When it does go generic, they will stop using Vanc. almost completely because the data does show adv. to Vanc. + it has a bioequiv. oral option. Its a very good drug for its indication, but its very expensive and hospitals don't like very expensive.
