GE to buy Medtronic

just wall street analysts speculating what a good idea since there's so little overlap (no divestirues) and a lot of converging technologies.

It's true....the overlap in Bloated Uncreative Middle Management between two is probably the only standout exception, and Medtronic has been working on "divesting" thosevassets for the past 3 months...

GE can buy anything that it wants to while prices are cheap. They've done some dumb deals recently (Clarient comes to mind) and they are not finished yet.
This was on the table even before GE annexed Amersham Health... (By the former Nycomed - formerly Sanofi-Winthrop - formerly Winthrop - formerly Winthrop-Breon...

The table? I don't know about the GE spread, but Nycomed was sniffing around somewhat seriously back in the early 90's.

But today at GE???? They just let go a bunch of the MDx folks - sales and HQ.
Not enough to qualify for acquiring Medtronics, that's for sure.

don't know about Hill Rom, but with the big push Omar ( former GE guy) is making in the international market with Medtronic, he has to see the "synergies" possible for a GE/MDT (equipments/therapies) team to those totally underserved markets. Plus MDT has been and will continue to be cheap because of the Infuse issues out there. hide and watch...
