I wonder if I, as a rep, can demand flexibility from my manager or Frazier himself for that matter, when sales, for whatever reason, don't measure up to Merck's "assigned objectives" for my territory. Yeah, I'll tell my manager that we need to be flexible and responsive to whatever happens in my territory market environment. I wonder how far I'll get with that if my territory's sales are soft? Hey, if it's good enough for the CEO, it's certainly good enough for me or vice versa? This is such BS that Merck's BOD is letting Frazier get away with. Unbelievable.
"CEO Kenneth Frazier, who took over in January, again declined to give a profit forecast beyond the current year, unlike his predecessor and Merck's rivals.
QUESTION: Will you resume giving long-term profit forecasts and, if so, when?
RESPONSE: I intend to make smart investments that will drive our long-term profitability and growth. I don't intend to reinstate the long-term guidance. We need to be flexible and responsive to whatever happens in the global (business) environment."
