Ah, is there anyone left at Merck now who remembers those halcyon days or rather years (7 to be exact) when Merck was THE NO. 1 Corporation not only in pharma but the entire world of industries??? Not sure what specific effects the retirement of Vagelos had, but in looking back, it clearly wasn't good for the future of the once mighty pharmaceutical giant and powerhouse. Thankful am I to have experienced those days which in fact were great years before Merck's day in the sun had set. And these days it's J & J as the top in pharma....really? That's pretty telling of the state of pharma.
