Forest Hospital rep here

I was in the running for the Cadence opportunity, however, I ended up launching a new Antibiotic with Forest's Institutional team. I often wonder what would've happened if I ended up at Cadence. Here at Forest it is a ultra-micromanaged, intense culture. Upper management is way over their heads with this product launch and have no antibiotic experience. At only 6months into launch a number of reps have been put on plan for not having any orders. I work 60-70 hrs a week and I stress constantly. Is Cadence better or is this the new pharma??

First of all, ignore the idiotic comment before this post. Unfortunately, this is the wave of the future. I truly don't know a single rep that is happy right now...we are treated like garbage and not respected. The industry used to be fun and now it totally sucks. Your comments regarding forest could be mirrored by anyone at this point. A least you have a fleet car and much better benefits.

I agree both points:
1) paul revere is a sad sad little man with way too much time on his hands
2) new pharma sucks and I would expect a new job every two years.

Douchbag, sorry you didn't get the job, only because I wish you had the facts straight. Like many launches this one will take time. Apparently, the hiring manager saw you for the child you are and your limited fortitude and chose to hire a professional instead. You are a tool.

Yes... its the new normal. But selling Teflaro is a WAY better gig than selling Ofirmev. I have sold in both anti-infectives and in anesthesia and you will go WAY further with Forest than with Cadence.

Put aside that all of this sucks because everyone is micromanaged to death... look at what you've got...

Cadence has one drug and if Ofirmev doesn't perform that doesn't bode well for the future. Ofirmev may be a great drug but its way too expensive and we all know that anesthesia has no voice or no clout with hospitals. When I sold to anesthesia you rarely found a go-getter willing to battle pharmacy for a new drug... they like to roll over and play dead.

Forest management is a bunch of r*****s that don't know how to sell an anti-infective to save their lives BUT at least Teflaro is an amazing drug that will do well over time. Also, with the other 2 antibiotics in the pipeline there may be decent job security if you do well enough.

So, it's all pros and cons... you will never get all you want with any job... I am saving my money so I can get out of this shithole in a couple of years and not have to find another job in another shithole....

Good luck!

You are right...this place is a shith@le...But no bonus sure makes it hard to save. Even though my base increased from my previous job...the lack of bonus, 401k match, wear and tear on my car...puts me in a huge deficit!

Yeah, acetaminophen has always reduced opiate dose...why do they give vicadin with tylenol..
So you can use less vicadin, this is nothing new. (a common RX from any prescription drug store)
An IV formulation isn't going to be different. May just pose more hepatic and renal issues.

Cadence is not filling an unmet need. I work in hospitals and suppositories that cost pennies and PO form are the same.

You are a suppository.

Yes, this is true.
Not surprised by the crass remarks.

The truth hurts.

You are probably in pharmacy, and most likely just a tech. IV rout will NOT cause more hepatic or renal issues. You need to go back to school if you actually think that's the case. IV formulation is MUCH different than PO or rectal. You need more education there also. The fact is, within the next two years, Ofirmev will be used widely in just about every hospital in the U.S.
