Forest contract

A friend at Forest has been beooching about more reps for over a week. Some mgr spots were posted but not seeing rep here. Typical mgr first and then reps. Thought the mgr phone interviews were happening and then f2f. We're next. Hurry up and wait

Forest rep with lots of tenure here-just can't wait until we get all the contract people. Now we will have someone to kick around.

Kick all you want. Just look what is happening at every single pharma company. All the regular reps are being replaced by contract reps. If you are a regular Forest Rep your days are numbered.

Here is how this goes. Forest has two drugs that are slated to launch this year. They want to expand but not jump in full throttle. The three drugs the contract group will have are Namenda, Bystolic and Viibryd. They will not launch. Now if something goes south with either launch products Forest will just whack some/all of the contract people. If all goes well contracts will be absorbed, and in 12 to 24 months they will be full time Forest employees. Also, as spots open in territories, an already trained contract rep is better than a newbie. Forest is building a bench. Some will move into a starting spot, some might be cut from the team.

I beg to differ on roll-over to Forest. Take a look at the model AZ has recently put in place. Cutting regulars and adding another contract. Maybe contract is the way of the future. In most companies your are an "at will" employee.

The big difference is that AZ is a shrinking and dying company, and Forest is a growing company. Big difference in how they approach their contracts. BI actually rolled a large number of their contract reps over. It's like a year and a half interview.

Not sure what you are smoking at Forest. How are you not shrinking. Your largest product by far is going generic (Lexapro 2.56 Billion). Also while every Phama company has cut back there sales forces over the last several years Forest has not. I think Forest now has more reps per territory than Pfizer and AZ combined. At some point Forest is going to follow the rest of the Pharma. To think other wise is just silly.

My recruiter told me that they were looking for candidates with no more than 1 to 3 years pharma experience. He said that my +ten years disqualified me for the position! What do you guys think? I swore I would never work for Forest anyway... but when you need a job... you need a job!

+10 years, I can see recruiters passing on anyone with +5years.. (you made too much money in the past, still thinking Big Pharma, will jump ship at any chance, poor attitude adjustment of being a 'rent a rep', too experienced to coach, the list of baggage just goes on and on)

Hire that newly laid off rep with 1 yr experience (similar pay scale, still excited and we won't feel too bad when contract ends in 18 months and lay'em off, still young enough to swim)

Forest is discriminating against older reps. It could not be more obvious. They just want to be able to brainwash and control them. Wonder when a class action suit will happen
