Forced ranking is absurd

alright I will bite......yes it's a archaic system of management but it's what we use. So Stab your counterparts in the back so your not on the bottom.
Maybe we should shed ourselves of the lower 15-20% each year. Then in 5 years there will be nobody left. That is how silly it is.

Upper management should use the same system.

What is good for the goose has to be good for the gander. If management believes in this system they should also fall into the same box and be forced ranked. What forced ranking does is make it easier to define (invent) undefinable performance characteristics. It gives the company legal cover to take actions against the employees.

It makes no difference whatsoever. You're discussing the rearranging of the deck chairs on the Titanic. Get your career affairs in order; it's about to change.
Monday is doomsday for the vast majority of you useless turds and turdettes. The managers get the marching orders and the delislinger careers are toast!

This system makes no sense as you could take the top 10 superstars in the company and put them in a division and then you would have to rank 1-2 in the bottom bucket. What a ridiculous obsolete system. Put upper management in this system and lets see how fast this is changed.

This system was never intended to be used year after year when developed. In theory the manner that Merck uses this would eventually lead to the demise of every employee.

However we know this company has a history of idiotic processes.

Some people lack the ability to think. The individual proclaiming this is business needs to use their pea sized brain and analyze this system.

Apparently every region is comprised of people who demonstrate talent and skills that when assessed and evaluated, will perfectly fit into a normal curve. I am confident that if challenged, this system would hold up in a court of law.

The WSJ about a month ago had an article that GE was eliminating its ranking system. They cited that it did more harm than good, and too much time was spent for the entire review process.

I don't see anything changing until a consultant tells HR that we need to do things differently. It's like any process at Merck. We do it like a decade after someone else has done it, and do it worse.

Or maybe you can just go fuck off. Stab your counterpart in the back. Real nice prick face

Here we are discussing what is not a participation game it is a production game . you sorry delislinger dicks don't produce and you deserve not even to be evaluated you need terminated. The sooner you are expunged the better for the welfare lines!

You damn right I will stab them in the back! That's just a normal part of this system, IF you want to survive. I don't give a rat's ass about any of them! It's dog eat dog!

As sad as it is, this is completely true. Backstabbing and a$$-kissing is rewarded by you keeping your job. Senior leadership knows this very well. As Trump would say, "It's business! If you don't like it, change it so I can't do it!"
