Final Interview Notes

Just got back from interviews for Midwest Area. There were 3 candidates for each territory being interviewed. If you are not chosen, they told you pretty much right away. It was done in the hallway. One person was chosen to meet with the regional director. It was a nerve racking process. The process was long and they were running behind so bring something to you because we were there all most all day.
DM questions were very minimal. No STAR questions, no role playing. Tell me about your resume, why aren't you working, who are you interviewing with, etc. What experience do you have with Endos? (asked for specific physician names) They are looking for previous connections already established in the field. There weren't a lot of questions thrown out, you had to "make conversation" which was pretty strange. Basically there was plenty of time to sell yourself. They did look at the brag book and looked at numbers and asked questions about numbers. I left feeling pretty strange at the end of the interview. There was time for you to ask questions at the end regarding the position. I heard other groups were hit pretty hard with a ton of questions so I really think it is DM specific.
In the end, I was not offered the job, however, I wasn't let go yet because of the possibility that the Regional Manager did not care for the candidate chosen during their interview. So there was an additional interview with the RM if you moved on. Seems like a great opportunity but they were on the disorganized side. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for sharing. I go on Monday and am also interviewing with another company. I hate the idea of role playing. I have never had to do this in an interview but I worry my nerves will get the best of me. I will be crushed if I get sent home. I was laid off and really miss the job.

I interviewed this week and there was no role
play or STARS question but be prepared to sell
yourself.

Thank you for sharing your details. I have one quick question for you as well. Did you go through a web-based interview also? I was contacted this week and have one set up for next week. I think it is a little strange to do web interviews, but I wanted to see if anyone else has had one already and what I can expect..

Thanks.

No web interview, had FtF with 2 PDI mgrs, then several weeks later had FtF with 2 Vivus mgrs in Atl, then met RSD, now waiting.

I did have a Web interview. It was fine, but only 20 minutes. Strengths and Weaknesses question and said he wanted something off of a performance review. He asked a couple of others but nothing difficult.

Everything poster #1 said was correct. It was clear in the case of a certain territory that the Vivus DM for that territory was going to go with a previous rep he had in his territory with another company for three years. That is fine, but don't waste two other peoples time and money ( no expenses were paid). It was a no win situation and a total waste of time. I believe it would have been a great opportunity. I just wish I would have applied for a different territory.

You didn't recognize the STAR questions. Some candidates I met never made it to final interview and they were all about their "contacts/physicians". It isn't all about who you know. Chemistry. Pure chemistry. As always.

I disagree-I felt strongly that the DM I interviewed with was truly going for most qualified
candidate that could do the best job-not just chemistry-if all things were equal among the candidates, physician contacts helped

I know 4 of us in Florida did not get an offers from the Atlanta interviews. All 4 of us met with the RD and no offers. Tampa, St. Pete, Orlando, Miami. Those where the areas. Anyone know if those positions were filled?

They waisted a lot of reps time and for that I hope the whole thing blows up in their arrogant faces!!

Let me guess did they tell you they had candidates that were to interview the following week they felt would be a better fit based on past working relationships with manager?

That is what happened to many of us out West, but it was a blessing in disguise after I heard about this manager from his last company district employees.'

Why would a manager leave a secure position with a well known company. Move to Vivus for double the amount of territory and uncertainty?

My situation was even worse, I interviewed with the RD and was told before I left I would get an offer before the end of week and never heard another word from these assholes. I am cool with not getting picked but just tell people when you are going with another candidate.

Seriously???

You work in sales... Or are at least trying to...

You should know better than to believe any offer is good until you have it in writing.

The people you interviewed with work in sales too. In any interview they try to sell themselves as hard as you try to sell yourself.

Thank you for your deep insight into how interviewing works! I can sleep better now that you have shared your wisdom on this site, douch bag.
