Falsely accused

I have used Speak Up to report nefarious behavior, not to attack anyone. Nothing came of it.

I know someone who had to deal with a false accusation made via Speak Up.

My guess is that Speak Up is there to show "yes, we take complaints seriously" and nothing more.

Applied in two ways: (1) It is used out of convenience. If they want to get rid of you they use it; if they want to keep you they ignore it., (2) Identifies those who speak up.....and they get labeled as "complainers" ..... have accomplishments go unrecognized, ........ the opportunities they are great candidates for go to less experienced and younger "leadership candidates" with no leadership accomplishments usually less than 30 years old.... they then end up on "the list" for the next reorg. Some just leave and move on and get the leadership positions they were looking for at other competitor companies......that are now kicking our ass because they have no respect for us and they know we will "do the wrong thing"......we are....in effect......very predictable due to our inexperience. That is very easy when your playbook is what our competitors used 10 years ago......like playing the Jets every weekend.......easy picking...

The speak up process puts you and your career at risk.............

Exactly my experience - I reported something and was told nothing will happen as there is no route to escalate the issue.

1000%
Better to go to HR so you at least have protection against retaliation.
My snake of a partner did this monthly, all false claims, but they cannot fire him.
