factive

Factive is long known as no better and often having less efficacy. 250 people dedicated to it at Oscient could not grow it. Doc's do not care for it. It was for sale for years. This too will grow with price increases only.

Management team had no idea what they were getting into with this. Big mistake. It will only hurt the company moving forward. Clueless !!!!!!!

For those people who are cutting down Factive, you have no idea what you are talking about. It is a great fluroquinolone and it has no resistance especially for acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and pneumonia. Levaquin has resistance because it is over prescribed. Where Oscient failed was due to no focus on managed healthcare..they thought Koss managment was the savior...Koss thought they could sell and found out they were no better and perhaps no less of a sales team than anyone else. If you are good at what you do, then you will sell Factive...you are in sales right? Sales is what you do right? You can sell ice cubes to an Eskimo right?

It's a factive alright that Tambo interviews terrible, which is why she is still at this shit hole. The Terrible Tambo!!!!

Resistance is NOT to a specific brand of medication. Resistance is to a class or type of antimicrobial. Strands of bacteria mutate and become resistant. This argument may work in the Deep South or back East, but not in areas where physicians are on top of their game. It is also relevant to who you listen to in the field. One doc sees failures on Levaquin, another to Avelox.... and Factive isn't even on their radar.

Very wrong. Glaxo bagged this dog years ago and put it on their shelf. A small company from Mass invested their whole future into it's promotion. It failed and so did the company. This is another example of a bouncing product trying to find a home. Just eek out a few million and pass it along to the next start up company. It's how this business works.

Previous post dead on.....please don't try to "sell" the science on this drug, you'll sound like the the Tequin, I mean the Avelox, I mean the Levo reps or how about the Trovan reps - what's that u ask. (all the 20 reps over the years selling in your territory have tried this versus Cipro, or ciprofloxin---its the cheap one..oh I know it doesn't have gram + coverage....blah, blah)

To the above poster, I couldn't have said it better myself. I am "selling" (and I use that term freely) Levaquin and Aciphex. Two very old drugs, no new studies nothing new to shar both with fiere generic competition.

Why do they even have sales reps? What a joke.

Fierce generic competition?? Please. Go back to training and understand that anyone using Cipro for RTIs is an idiot! If this holds you back, sit back and relax (first) and come out knowing that the branded quinolones are far superior to Cipro. Any doc that tells you they prescribe Cipro for RTIs, etc., either don't like you or your product- or they are morons and should be scratched off your call list.

it makes me laugh when people say this product needs MC to be successful and thats why it failed in the past.

The reality is that Factive:

- has only 2 indications
- is the most expensive per pill of any quinolone
- has the lowest marketshare of any quinolone, and has since its launch

The managed care team can't give it away to any insurance company..FOR FREE!!!!

This btw was a tactic used by the previous company to get it on formulary, and it still didn't get on. Thats a fact.
