Explain salary/commission.

I realize this company has gotten terrible reviews, so please spare me the opinions about working here. Rotech bought out a local home health store. The store still carries the original name, but operates under Rotech I suppose. I realize the decision to accept the position is not a favorable one around here, but it will provide the experience I need to get into the job I want in 1 year.

Can someone explain the point/salary/commission system, please? I think it goes like this, but want to know for sure: if you are classified as a level "A" you will be given the lowest base offered. The base is at the 11 point mark. Let's say the level "A" base is $39,000. Would I be guaranteed the $39,000 for year 1? Since O2 w/med equals appox 1 pt. each, would I just need to sell 11 of those to hit my goal? Anything over 11 points is paid by commission? Also if I don't hit the 11 points, what happens? Would I get written up after 1 year and have to complete an action plan? How hard is it to get 11 points? I could use the experience to land my desired job, but I definitely don't want to risk being fired and have that black cloud following me to my next position. Can I put a year in, hit my goal, and slip out with experience?

Fraid not, after your first 90 day's you will be "written" up each month you do not make your point level and the 3rd month in a row you do not make it, you are out. Depending on the store staff will depend on how they go through too. Rotech as a whole is not bad. Good luck

Thank you for the honest reply. So you are saying you have to make 11 points per month? That would seem a little tough. I know a very good rep from a smaller company and she does about 60 O2's w/Medicare per year. If we took her sales and applied them to Rotechs compensation plan, that would only give her about 5 points per month. Since O2 is the highest point possible, I would think 11 or 12 per month would be very tough in this market. Hopefully I am mistaken and not understanding you correctly. How much time do you have to make your points? Thanks!

I think you have 4 months initially and then you must start getting your 11 points each month. You get commission on other product too so if you can do volume with beds/wheelchairs and cpap/bipap plus your o2's getting your hurdle shouldn't be too hard. Make sure your store staff is decent, your job relies on them delivering the equipment and processing the paperwork. One or two screwed up deliveries, your name is mud with your referrals.

Umm you have to watch rotech. I've had several O2's that the primary ins was Medicare but then the secondary ins was something else. They didn't count it as the 1 point. You get no points for nebulizers that aren't Medicare so you will use your gas and time getting paperwork in for nothing. The sales rep us the underdog for sure.
