I graduated from college with a marketing degree last december and have 4 years real estate experience and did a sales/marketing internship with Merrill Lynch. I want to get into medical sales and cook seems like the place to do it. Do i have a shot with them yet or do i need other experience?

Sounds like you have a good shot.

Actually, you don't need the degree or the experience to work for Cook. All you need is a willingness to work for little money and be managed by someone who is not too swift.

Wow! Isn't that the truth!

The title of this thread jumped out at me...as I was amazed with a recent interview I had with Cook.

I thought possibly Cook would be a fit for me. I gagged when the recruiter stated the starting salary. I went on the interview anyway...just to check it out.

I truly had more education and experience than the two (2) "managers" that interviewed me. I felt the interview went well...yet, to be honest, really didn't think I'd ever accept an offer.

I HONESTLY was pleased that I was not called back.

I HONESTLY just accepted an offer for $30,000 MORE a year in BASE salary.

WHO does Cook ever think they are going to attract? I assume younger, new grads willing to run around. Those new-hires get their experience, and move on. Then the cycle starts again. Think about the turnover! Oh my...

With gratitude...I am not that type...and whew...glad to move on!

Take care!

So you have a GED and a year as an associate Rep. Ya that is more than the managers in the shit hole.

Try an MBA and a number of years in medical sales.

Cook wasn't meant for me...and that's fine.

I was solely agreeing with the original post...not trying to slam the company. I can see the error of their ways through the process.

If Cook is working well for you...great! It simply wasn't a fit for me.

God Bless!

MBA not working well......I was saying you had a GED because that would be more education than the swifty managers at Cook, and any sales experience is more than some of them too. I wasn't slamming you, just saying that it doesn't take much to outshine this bunch. With Bill older and new numb nutz taking over-this place is hosed. The president of Cook has a doctorate-in MUSIC, and the next guy had no exposure to medical sales it seems before he got to Cook-and he is a lawyer. This place is a mess and doomed.

Gotcha! I followed you...and your comparison...thanks! :)

I was shocked...and pleased I was able to walk away!

Hope it all works out for you. Get the experience you need, and parlay that to something better. From what you can see...you can only go UP !!
