Any tips for a Pharma rep looking to get into the event monitor business?
Look elsewhere. Stay away from tele-medicine.
That is the best free advice you will ever get. Recruiters try to make it sound like you can make big $$$, but they are just trying to get their commission. The tele-medicine industry is dying a very painful death. Back in 2007, if you just put in normal effort six figures was reasonable. I don't think anyone from ANY of the event companies who has makes ANYWHERE NEAR THAT. That is the reason I got out. Money went WAY down, and hellish micro management went WAY up.
Do yourself a favor and politely decline the interview.

No reps are making that king of money. Anyone that would believe that would be an idiot. You obviously don't know this business fully, have been associated with one of the lesser successful companies and you are not successful in this business. I personally know dozens of reps who earn well over $250K annually in the event business and a few that earn as much as $500K annually. Also, you obviously don't know much about the telemedicine industry, because it IS NOT dying a painful death, on the contrary, it's getting bigger, better and stronger each year. Have you attended any of the most recent telemedicine meetings?...well, I have and assure you telemedicine is not dead.
You are doing a great dis-service by providing advice to anyone on a business that you know very little about and are not successful in.
To the candidate who is interviewing for an event monitoring position...do youself a favor and interview with the company...matter of fact, once you learn who the competitors are, seek interviews with them also. You'll find there are great companies in this business and there are a few that just don't stack up because of weak management or technology. Talk to your cardiologists or EP's.
Good luck.

I do agree that telemedicine is not dying.
100k? You must be kidding.. and WITH experience??? Good luck!
I thought you were the 250k plus guy?
You should follow along a little better tough guy. The first 250k guy already dropped his shorts to 100k.
If you also want to tell us you also know of 250k reps, just tell us the state. If not, you're full of sh*t also. There is no f'ing way you know ANY monitoring reps making over 250k.
Why cant you name a state? I say you are full of it on just ONE person making 250k. You and you "friend" trying to say you know many, AND up to 500k!!!!. F'ing dreamers.Seriously? I'm not the same 250/150k guy you r*****.
There are reps making over 250k EASY in the monitoring biz.
Why can't you accept that? Are you still whinig over your 175k max
working for another company? Why would we make this up? We are trying
to help you realize there is a hell of a lot more to get out there than a
shitty salary and bonuses that just aren't there every quarter.

Tell your 100k first year "potential" and "sky is the limit" to the next class of believers... and the next class, and the next... I bet the idiots you find cant clear 1k per month.
