Even more demotivated?

How many reps are even more demotivated regarding the "new incentive comp". It makes the reps that weren't working very hard, work even less and the reps who busted their a### less motivated because they aren't going to make any money! Way to go GSK for just continuing the hypocrisy. If we are truly no longer "sales" why are we incentivized by district level goals?
Also anyone actually getting a "raise"?

Nope. NO raises. Groceries and gas going up daily. Reps have to go to all generics and forget getting a nice fun car to drive on weekends. No chance.
Getting a new Benz built as I type this. Saved my dough and retired early. Glad I was with you all during the good times. I actually remember getting 12% raises and making 40K annually in bonus. We once got a "Tagamet kicker" for 40+K! One huge check! Ahhhhh. The good days. Put that $ in a nice mutual fund and enjoyed the growth. Maxed out on the 401K and IRA annual contribs. Lived alone and watched it grow. No buying kids toys, vacations with kids, etc. Now it ALL PLAYS OUT like I planned.

Rep- When are we getting Raises? I need a Raise!

DSM- You want to make more money?

Rep- Yes

DSM- Then Raise Your ASS out of that Car seat and go in there and sell some Drugs!!!!!!!!!

And now we are accountable (paid on or not paid on) for products we don't promote. Sounds fair also. Socialism has arrived at GSK. Next it will be regional goals and then national goals. Yes we truly are in it together.

Market shares would not change at all if they hired fresh college grads (hot women of course) and paid them a base of 22K. Believe me, they are dying for jobs. Any job. Give them a Chevy Cobalt, or no car at all! Heck, don't even give am a car and don't pay for gas. They would still be lining up for jobs. The whole industry could go to this while we wait for it all to be done via UPS.

Funny, but my brother is a VP of International Marketing at a different mega-Pharma company, and we were talking over Christmas about business (which we have always avoided due to competitive conflicts). BTW, he will soon be downsized as I was also recently. His enlightening comment had to do with internal meetings where the LEGAL folks at his company are CONSTANTLY/CONTINUALLY attempting to influence upper management that the sales forces need to be eliminated or tremendously downsized because they are the major liability to the company, due to stupidity over how they can and cannot legally promote products, despite how they are trained. The majority of Pharma lawsuits are due to ignorant sales force people that cost hundreds of millions in legal verdicts and fines. Don't know that I agree with this (actually I call BS on legal), but it is a trend that is being voiced to management by corporate "Sales-prevention" personel at all companies.
