EV3 Peripheral

I have a question for any of the EV3 Peripheral Reps out there. I have an opportunity to interview for a territory with EV3 Peripheral. I know the previous rep, he left for personal reasons and didn't have anything bad to say about the company; I just want to get some other viewpoints. I am currently in the vascular world with an income upside of about 180k this year. Is low 200's realistic with ev3 and what is the general morale among the EV3 reps since being bought by Coviden? Are people happy with the products, comp plan, etc, or has the "well been poisoned". Thanks in advance!

You'd be crazy not to go after this! It is the premier division within Covidien!

If you're already making $180k I'd be cautious. Sure, you could make $200, $225, or even more. But consistently? Not in this market. EV3 has made their name with decent products with rock bottom pricing. Now that they are part of COV, that will change. COV will not be the low cost leader long term. Unfortunately, I dont see EV3 coming with anything game changing. Their stent, if they didn't price it at $800 and less, would not get pulled. Their balloons are below average. Their carotid system is below average. Their BX stent is non existant. No CTO products. No IVC filter. Athrectomy is probably the 3rd best on the market. Good company, but I see their recent growth coming from being a part of COV and taking advantage of what that offers, not from having great products. I don't see sustainability long term. If you are truly making $180, I don't think the risk is worth the upside.

I compete with EV3 every day and it's true they low ball the competition with a sub-par stent and balloon. The reason I think they will continue to be the leader in the space is because they are the only company with a full bag. Their atherectomy device is first in-class in my part of the country and certainly not third. Who are they third behind CSI or Pathway/Bayer? CSI has nothing to offer but atherectomy and a few wires and either does Pathway/Bayer. EV3 during a case can offer atherectomy, balloon, stent, distal protection, atherectomy and soon to come they just bought a crossing device. The CSI and Pathway/Bayer reps sit in the corner hoping they will do atherectomy while the EV3 rep is running around grabbing his/her many products off the shelf. In addition EV3 will have an IVUS mounted to the Turbo/Silverhawk which with probably dominate the market at least in the beginning. I’m certainly not a fan of EV3’s tactics as most of the reps I encounter with the exception of a few are slime bags but they do have the most complete bag in the peripheral space.
