I NEVER post. I guess I've gotten to the point that I feel I have to. There's a lot going on in the world but I am going to be myopic for a few minutes. Forgive me.
I have been at JNJ for 20 years. Did my boss even recognize it? No. Aside from that I've had a very successful career, moving from start-ups, to R & D to Supply Chain across the broad in several functions and increasingly responsible positions. I decided to make a big jump and move to a new sector. I expected they wanted a new perceptive, change or something different....or they had no talent pipeline. Foreshadowing...they don't but don't see it!!
So I moved. What I found was a totally dysfunctional organization. So Top Down that it is sickening. No trust, everyone is expected to knows every detail that there is no reason for mid management. Plain and simple, there is no empowerment of people leaders. New perspectives are not welcome. They are squashed. The culture is stagnant and those who challenges are labeled and pushed out. I can point to 4 very successful women leaders that Ethicon pushed aside because they stood up to the "status quo" or weren't total suck ups. Power hungry people who horde information as power are respected here. People who don't partner or align teams are respected here. There is no agenda for change. The only driver of change are the numbers....only the long time kiss butts will survive in this backwards focused place.
