EPBU Town Hall

On the Eve of the EPBU town hall, I understand some people may not feel entirely comfortable fielding their "difficult" questions on the call for a myriad of reasons. With that said, we all know management comes here. So...why not post them here for management to read and possibly (just possibly) address during the call. Let's get the ball rolling...

Since paid time off is probably not going to happen within the "flex time" framework - higher hourly wage. Also be transparent with what type of increases in workload (admin etc) are expected and how we will be compensated for it - example would be a territory where lunches will become necessary on a more frequent basis in order to gain access.

Town hall meeting? why dont they talk compensation? The mentality they are trying to instill on us requires $$$$

If you looked on the chat board while the town hall meeting was going on, you could see that their were several questions about compensation. They IGNORE them. Only one person at the end was able to ask and they their answer was no.

The fact that they ignored those questions (and later said no) shows the degree of banality these scumbags are.

I dont think they are scum bags but its terrible that they didn't want to address it. There expectations are high that we can accomplish all they ask in just 24 hours per week. I am putting in 24 and no more, period.

For me, the problem is not that I cannot get all of the tasks done in 24 hours per week. (My geography is condensed, so there is not much drive time.) It is having a full-time "ownership" responsibility that is always hanging over your head. A part-time job is one that should be done well on a daily basis and shelved until the next work day. If you are a person with a good work ethic, it is very hard not to work over 24 hours if you are really analyzing business acumen, coordinating with a partner, planning and executing RFMs properly, etc. I feel like I am a full-time pharma employee with three field days. Come to think of it, this is why I left part-time with inventive 15 years ago and just went full-time. I was paid more and worked about the same number of hours.

Your post is spot on! Also, since we will have sole ownership now, we will be the reps getting calls from customers on our days off asking for more samples. This is becoming a job that you can never mentally shut down as there is always many tasks hanging over your head, whether it be, ride-alongs, rfm planning, test taking, studying, analyzing business, emails, and the list goes on and on. In addition, I live in a rural area and have an enormous amount of drive time which takes up many hours in the day. Unless this lets up they will see a big turnover.

I agree with the above posts. Full time expectations on a part time basis. Can they squeeze anymore out? I don't think they have any intention of paying us more or giving us a paid vacation. These meeting require travel time? I assume they will have to pay overtime for travel since it is hourly. I think there will be a bigger than normal turnover. I have heard inventiv is getting ready to hire a new full time contract. My mindset has changed now. I might as well work fullime and get paid benefits. This is not what itbstartedbout to be in 2010. Itvwaspart time24 core..remember?

I figure we did a good enough job to stay employed and even the marketing guy said we did well. Nobody is stupid enough to not want more money when results are great and everyone is saying how valuable we are, so it was a good question. I get acknowledgement for working harder than I have to a lot of the time, but I also have a great work environment. I've seen companies treat employees a lot worse is all I am saying. Maybe more money will come if we continue to do well? Management has to sell that like anything else. No complaints, except timely adequate samples to own the business. Dosing cards and such help, too. Nothing that hasn't been said a million times. The impact of any of this stuff on my life outside of work is zero. I control that. Of course I bitch a little, too. . . but it's all good. I still like this gig.

Conference call was a joke. What a disappointment. The response about additional responsibilities - how Merck reps also have additional responsibilities without additional compensation too. Well now that's just a lie. They are compensated w additional spiffs, increased amt of paid vacations due to tenure, free company car to drive all over the country. It's not comparable. And it's insulting to suggest it is. Frustrated. I don't need a full time job for a significant pay cut masked as part time. I was so mad at Archie responses to increase admin time-it's not necessary. And yet we have double the Rfm budget?! Do they not realize how long it takes to input that info into expense reports? It's completely transparent to me there are a lot of disgruntled employees. How does upper management see that as well? They better do something about it soon or there is going to an huge turnover. That's a guarantee.

This is a contract wide problem. Publicis will agree to ANYTHING to keep a contract in place. They keep more than their fair share of the $$$ and pay us poverty wage while they work us to death. Ask the CEO of Publicis (who lives on an 80 acre ranch) if he cares that we are overworked and underpaid. Disgusting!
