heres some honest feedback, it really just depends.
The job market for pharma reps is still oversaturated and will continue to be this way until all the exreps from pharma seek employment elsewhere outside this industry. There is just too many of us who have been doing this for years and are still here. You are competing with sales reps who have a ton of experience,...why consider you who has no pharma experience?
There are tens of thousands of recent college grads out there, who can not find work let alone find work that pays a decent living, your expectation of finding a high paying job just because you have a degree is about 15 years too late ( atleast in pharma when the blockbuster lipitors were being launched with army's of sales reps many straight from college).
Your odds of finding work here will require a lot of networking with people that are already here, so log onto linked in and start associating with those who are in pharma, and ones that went to the same college that you gradated from.
So lets say you get the interview. How are you different from the masses??? Will the hiring manager appreciate a wet behind the ears newbie??? perhaps... because the veteran reps with experience may have an attitude or bring biased opinions from their last job. If you do hit if off with the DM, you have a chance of getting hired.
Its that simple.
In the mean time, you should consider contract pharma sales as an option...aka "renta reps", you sell the same brands, are given many of the same benefits, and have a decent shot of being rolled into the pharma company. At the least the contract reps are being paid $40k + 15k bonus, its better than working and punching a clock at the home depot.
or try anything B2B,
