Endowrist morcellator

Guess you didn't hear about the new morcellation bags. What, you think we'll actually go back to open myomectomies and hysterectomies??

Until you can prove those bags eliminate spreading cancerous cells the GYN has to legally provide INFORMED CONSENT. The GYN has to tell the patient there is a 1 in 300 chance she'll get cancer using a lap procedure. When someone hears 'cancer', they are going to ask for other options, including not getting surgery. Benign procedures are going to drastically drop.

I don't think that they will "drastically drop" as you assume. What is the percentage of lap hysters that actually utilize a morcellator? Sure, the myomectomies and large uterus cases will possibly be open now but I rarely see a lap myomectomy performed in my market anyways. Most lap or robotic TLHs, the specimen can be removed through the vagina without any morcellation required. I would say that 95% of the hysters in my market fall under that category. Will there be a change in surgery options? Possibly but it won't be "drastic".
