I have a novel idea...why not hire the best person for the job regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender or anything else? I know it's a crazy notion but just a thought that popped into my head.

I agree..We Should! If we actually did that, White Males wouldn’t make up 90% plus of Corporate Leadership in every Pharma/Medical Company! Hopefully AZ will commit to the Starbucks Pledge and have at least 30% of their Corporate Leadership from People of Color. Because these White Boys will just hire other Mediocre White Boys. As soon as someone falls for it, they launch their usual posts. I suspect that now the their guy has lost the election (whether or not they want to accept it), these types of posts will slowly increase, at least until the end of the year.

Well the complaint is we don't have enough poc's. The response is, we don't have enough qualified poc's. 13% of the population for blacks. Do the math, this means we must put under qualified people into place. Every industry and business, small and large, will be mandated to do so.
 








The answer is selecting the most qualified candidate for the job. There are plenty of qualified men, women, black, brown, white, gay, straight, bi, Hispsnic, Asian and legal immigrant for jobs in all sectors. The problem has been historically systemic racism guided hiring decisions and white males get most of if not all the top positions. Not because they are the smartest, brightest or most qualified. Although some are talented abs earned their role. It sounds like most people responding on this site is SCARED to compete on a level playing fiend and complaining out of white grievance and privilege. Get over yourselves. Highschool football players and cheerleaders can do this job. All you need is a drivers license or UBER Eats delivery experience! Your not as smart or talented as you think you are. Grow up and compete for your position like most of us have to.
 




Stop with the racism card. Everyone is equal!!! The pharmaceutical industry is corrupt for all and very subjective when promoting. I understand how you feel; unfortunately, this is a problem across all companies - subjective managers deciding your future. All about brown nosing the Senior Leadership Team so bogus and corrupt.
 




Capital cronyism is ruining america. So lets make it worse and be diverse- hiring people based on bias-race, sex, etc. The complete antithesis of anti-discrimination laws. This is a call for white cleansing and is wrong. The low level thinkers have fallen for this and very easily controlled by their emotions of victimhood. These are the sheeples going to the slaughter just like the jews headed to the gas chambers.
 




If systemic racism exists why was a black man the POTUS for eight years? Why was a black woman Biden’s running mate? Why are the multimillionaire black athletes and musicians rich? Why is the CEO of Merck black? Why was a black woman and black man Secretary of the State? The truth is racism exists with a select few, not the masses.
 




I agree to end the diversity calls. I am tired of hearing the complainers whine that people don't like them or that they think they didn't get the job, not because or their lack of brains but because of the color of their skin. If you turn down a black person for a job, you are automatically accused of being a racist. If you turn down a woman, you are accused of being sexist. If you hire a white man you are accused of fostering white privilege. Has it ever occured to anyone that the people who have stuff, worked for it and should not be shamed for doing so?
 




Why are we having SO MANY of these calls? They are such a waste of time. Give us a break! I know they are not "mandatory", but our manager makes us feel guilty if we don't attend!

Not mandatory my ass. You can bet that ass of yours if you don't attend these so called diversity calls you will be placed on some list and it won't be good for your career. Just consider it part of your job to be on the call and don't fret this bullshit.
 








The result is increasing division and bitterness. Good people are being told they are guilty of "systemic racism". That their beliefs and actions are all part of their subconscious so they don't realize they are racists. Is that special, using the subconscious to lay a guilt trip. You people smile while saying you hired the best “fit” for the job and leadership and salesforce is majority White. I agree. End the diversity calls. Ban all White Male hiring panels. Make 50% of Management POC. Then diversity will magically happen.
