I worked for Arthrex , won’t name the distributorship but let’s just say the on the east Coast and in NY. Worse company I have ever worked for, clearly mismanaged from top to bottom. Senior leadership if you even want to refer to them as leaders were never available to speak to me one on one, messaging and or expectations were NOT clear and discernible. The VP of sales was either on his boat or in the gym or eating sushi with his chosen few that he felt were worth of his company. In the same breathe he was the one to give his 2 meetings a year where he would preach family and unity and how we all are one big team. Well he got the family part right; specifically nepotism. This guy had not one but two of his family members working for the organization. I bet they were taken care of. I never felt like I was part of a team, my manager was never around and I was consistently given mixed messages around performance and pay. I was a consistent performer and never felt like I was paid fairly. Each year I was asked to do more with less. I finally had enough and went to go work in bio-tech. Much happier and much better off. Working for Arthrex is not what I thought it would be. I heard this company was great to work for in its infancy however that’s not the case today. Arthrex has full control over the orthopedic industry from top to bottom. They don’t us really anymore. We are there to open boxes and make sure our equipment is readily available. Why would they pay me? I just wish I wasn’t led to believe I can make all this money like the VP of sales promised. That guy really took advantage of a young eager man who was really looking to be part of an organization that one can he proud of. Instead what I got was the exact opposite. Sad part is I bet he doesn’t even remember my name or know who i am if bumped into in the street. I felt used to be quiet honestly. I’m just glad I was young enough to pivot in my career. What I didn’t want was to be that 35 year old guy who has been doing this job for a decade plus chasing some surgeon down by the scrub sink begging him to look at my new overpriced anchor. At least what I’m doing now I am getting fairly compensated and I’m working on some pretty cool innovations that I hope will in turn make peoples lives better and not put money in someone’s pocket so he can refill his boat on my hard earned sweet and tears.
