Turnover at any health care facility represents a loss in financial and time invested in each employee that leaves. Employers spend company resources to recruit or interview applicants; process applications, drug and background screenings; and paid time to put new employees through an orientation process without out any reimbursement to begin with. Then, the employees are usually given three to six months of a probationary period where he or she will learn to function within the department and learn individual responsibilities. During this time, the staff is partially productive, but must be closely supervised by experienced staff or management. Finally, after an evaluation of the employee’s performance during the probationary period, the company will finally begin to reap the benefit of a staffing a properly trained employee. At this point, if the employee leaves the facility, the company has lost their entire investment of time and finances and must begin the process over again.
