Emma

I dont think people realize that this subsect of psychopaths are very real and more common than the explosive kind. These are the sorts of people who will worm their way into positions where they may make the lives of normal people miserable, waiting for a select few to lash out so that they are "justified" in inflicting upon them all the awful things they'd do ordinarily. They are instinctive cowards basically. They understand their chances of getting away with their impulses are very slim, so they simper up to the law and organizations and institutions, then use those to create "acceptable targets" systemically. Common in women, increasingly common among infirm men. Very disgusting people. Be sure to remember these exist so they may not honeytrap you.

Emma and her team presented a 5 and 10 year plan to turn around GSK. When you step into an organization with less than a full cabinet of products trends don't change overnight.
It wasn't to long ago AZ was a company with shelves half full. Seems AZ has now turned it around and that didn't happen overnight.
So it only seems fair that Emma is given her chance to prove she can get this company back to respectability over the next 5-6 years. Like it or not that will be the case.

After 5 years, the AZ stock price had performed significantly on the back of launches of lymparza, brillinta and the promise of Tagrisso and Infinzi.

did the GSK 10 year plan say “sit on our hands for the first five years”?

didn’t we all listen and allow Hal B to make those big investments… that non of them paid off!

Didn’t Emma pay Hal more than her and fund an expense account of over $1m per year?

He really did ride the gravy train and GSK kept him on the books as a non-Exec Director and member of the science committee …. Yeah, getting ahead of disease together

The body consists of a complex network of chemical reaction chains, with transport mechanisms, converters, buffers, filters, sinks, sources and whatnot. Most functions have several backups. They all have individual states with hundreds of relevant values, change heavily within days, even hours.
So a working treatment will mostly be a complex lifestyle & drug regime, involve regular sensitivity analysis, high end control theory. It will often be about the limits of reversibility.

How did he ever get away with the travel expenses and his lack of action in his role? Sound like a real high quality individual.

Traditional marriages (aka non modern Western ones) placed an emphasis on marrying into a “good” family because families impart values and societal responsibilities on you and greatly shape how you behave in your roles as a husband/wife/parent/citizen. Only modern West people think people are autonomous agents who make lifestyle decisions in a vacuum.

The thought behind the 5 and 10 year plan Emma sold the board was to solidfy her role as CEO for that time period.
If little progress has been made after 5 years, does anyone really think she can get it done in another few years. Unlikely. The Board needs to cut its losses yesterday.

They were overcrowded and stressed because their housing was designed by a human who didn't understand what rodents need. They need to be in a shelter or near walls because their eyesight is bad and open spaces stress them out. They would fight for space near the walls and the least dominant would be forced out into the middle where there's nowhere to hide. It wasn't a utopia, it was hell. They couldn't die because there was plenty of food and water and no predators which means their day was constant conflict and stress with no challenge or reward.

Great an Emma apologist! AZ has become an oncology dynamo in the last 8 years. GSK oncology cannot find their arse with both hands.
