Witty left Emma a complete mess. For those who do not understand the business, GSK is well positioned with the Oncology and Immunology therapy areas which are complemented nicely by Vaccines and HIV. The issue is to fund the R&D necessary for those main two therapy areas which are the two largest growth areas of pharmaceuticals over the next 10 years. The Moron Witty was divesting from those areas.........Emma is not a magician, it takes time to fix the screw ups of Witty and the "Lilly Boys" he hired. If you have not noticed, Witty is out of the industry all together, Diedre and Jack are no where to be heard from, and there sidekicks are all out of the industry as well. Emma needs, and derserves a fair chance.

Here, here! Witty destroyed GSK with his focus on vaccines and consumer health. His sale of oncology to Novartis was one of the poorest decisions seen in pharma leading him and Monself to be fired. Emma is trying to right the ship after Witty scuttled the HMS GSK on the rocks.
