Chiquita Brands International Inc. said Friday that its shareholders have elected Ely Lilly & Co. executive Jeffrey Simmons to the company's board of directors.

Simmons, 44, is a senior vice president at Eli Lilly and president of Elanco Animal Health, the company's animal health division.
