With a huge chunk of JNJ manufacturing in Juarez, Mexico, primarily for BWI & Ethicon, any idea what impact it will have on JNJ? A 25% tariff is a lot of money. Will the costs be passed onto customers, or will there have to be layoffs, or perhaps both?

Long-Term is a positive to close those sites, including Puebla, and return the jobs to the U.S. thus eliminating the low cost slave labor.

Why do you think J&J went to Juarez and hired 30,000 employees anyway? Because they made better quality? Nope, so J&J could pay slave labor wages of $1 per hour back then. Greedy Greedy. Then Mexican wages slowly increased in Juarez so what did we do, outsourced to Jabil. Starting all over now in Cozy Costa Rica. J&J Quality Schmality. Hospital GPOs have signed agreements with medical device manufacturers with a prenegotiated price for their products. With a 25% tariff, JNJ will have to eat the cost until the existing contracts with GPOs are up for renewal.

How will JNJ eat the cost? I suspect there will have to be some combination of layoffs and product discontinuations.
