Eduction

Does Zimmer still use the Z-Hotel? Whatever happened to the annual resident meeting that was held in Chicago and Warsaw? From what I hear from my customers, they have really cut back on these education programs....

Education.

Zimmer is not the only company to slow down on professional education. Corporate compliance has made it extremely difficult - exhaustingly cumbersome - to assemble and to compensate faculty, let alone to secure a modest, educational venue. This is another government intervention program that overreaches to the point of being nearly anti-business. The government is killing business in America through overregulation.

Seems the best route to educate is via a shot gun approach by providing grants to societies like OTA, NASS, AAOS, etc.

Undoubtedly, but the degree of many of the extreme measures is self created not government mandated.

This post is such nonsense, this person has been drinking the ZMH kool-aid for way too long. A lot of other med-surg companies are running great programs, with paid surgeon consultants acting as faculty. Wake up people, ZMH just doesn't want to spend the money and blames everything on "compliance" to cover their asses.

So true. Don't be so snowblinded by "corporate compliance". Government overreach and intervention is one thing, but corporate overreach is just plain self destructive. Zimmer tried to set the compliance bar, but no one else followed along. Now it's just a self imposed
competitive disadvantage.

Well said.

Zimmer set the compliance bar!!!!! You have got to be kidding. Ever heard of the $180M fine by the DOJ? While they are now more "careful", that doesn't mean they have stopped playing the game.

You clearly don't know zimmer corporate these days then. If you are getting your butt kicked by zimmer in your territory then you need to be looking at your own performance or skill factors. It may even be by accident or happenstance that zimmer is doing well there, or it may be that they have a good rep there. But I can assure you it is NOT because zimmer is playing any games with compliance. Many of us sure wish they WOULD be more aggressive (and still within legal, moral and acceptable limits), but zimmer compliance is so overwhelmingly restrictive that it's like trying to go to work everyday with a straighjacket on. Just ask your local zimmer rep how difficult it is to get a legitimate consulting agreement in place.
