Please tell the dumb asses in HR that it is federal law to provide COBRA. You may not then drop the insurance and bill employees for it. Anyone else dealing with bills from this company? Here is the story. The company let numerous reps go in 2007.
Former employees sign up for COBRA. BMS keeps the money drops the insurance and sends former employees bills. Seriously BMS??? Get it together. What is the CEO's name?

Same thing happened to me in 2009. I paid for COBRA signed up and was told after visiting a doctor that my insurance had been cancelled. I'm getting bills for a COBRA insurance policy that BMS dropped. I think they need to be turned into the insurance commissioner.

How can you be a former employee and not know the CEO's name? How can you sign up for COBRA in 2007 and not know it's only good for 18 months? How do you not know that COBRA stands for Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act and it requires employees to pay for continued coverage under their employer's plan if they got laid off. COBRA costs an arm and a leg, but sometimes it's all people can get when they lose their job.

No wonder you were laid off.

Well, first of all, the company only has to provide COBRA for 18 months in a layoff/severance situation. But I was laid off and found employment quickly within 3 months. So I never had to go on COBRA. But the company continued and continues to bill me some $1800 a month for COBRA which I refuse to pay. I called them on numerous occasions to "cancel" it and I was assured it was cancelled but the dumbasses there keep billing me. They can fuck off. They won't get a dime out of me and if they don't knock it off, they may get their cheap asses slapped with a harrassment suit.

This four year old story does not make any sense. You have to go out of your way to activate COBRA and set up the payments. Were you on it for the 3 months? So dont pay it who cares.. your post is boring and petty

Trying to help you man and you are calling me names and use foul language. Have you contacted Morneau Sobeco directly? Think you just hit all 1 on the HRline to get them directly. Not clear how you dropped a policy you never had or how 2 years ago was 2007? Are you just mad at the world?

Not calling you a dumb ass the other poster that is a show up and throw up rep. The one that fails to ask probing questions. I'm with the other posters. I refuse to pay for some policy that didn't exist. Maybe they should move their operations back to the US as India isn't getting it. Maybe I should have faked calls like the other posters and I would still have a job. GO ROCHE! With your clinicals and employees that work you will kick BS ass.
