DUI... Screwed huh?

I got a DUI almost two years ago. My BAC was 0.85... Totally sucked. Anyways, no harm done to anyone but obviously its on my record. Will this keep me from getting hired at NOVO? I have a second interview coming up and am not sure how to handle disclosing this up front. Any advice greatly appreciated.

No need to. Wait until you are actually being considered for the position.. you have filled out the application form. Then you can bring it up. You are allowed some leeway re points on your license.

Not trying to be difficult, however, I wouldn't even waste your time. You won't get hired once they find out. They won't hire you if you've got two or three tickets on your record.

Was it worth it?

Was WHAT worth it? My BAC was .085 Have you never gone out to dinner with your spouse and had 1 or 2 drinks and driven home? FYI: BAC of .08 is 1-2 beers. Hardly makes me a criminal. I appreciate your response to my question but give me a break.

GIVE YOU A BREAK? why? You could have killed someone. Why should ANYONE give you a break? You are the victim, huh? YOU chose to drink and drive, no one forced you at gunpoint, did they.

Disclose everything. Didn't they ask if you have anything on your record for the past seven years. I got hired within 3 yrs of one. disclose it on the application and hr. If you go forward then you're all set. If you don't and they find it in the background check then you lied and you're screwed.

Thank you to the above poster. The application asks if you've been convicted of a Felony in the last 7 years. Nothing about driving records or misdemeanors. Thats why I'm not sure when to bring it up. Thanks again.

You'll definately need to bring it up. DUI's stay on your record for the rest of your life unless you get it expunged, but not all states allow this process. The preliminary application does ask this, however, as / if you move through the process and further into the offer, a criminal background and MVR report is run. Nobody really knows how far and in depth the report goes or who the third party is who conducts em'. My guess is to wait and ride it through, it's been a while since I've looked at mine but usually the offer letter is contingent upon "sucessful completion of a criminal background check".

On your written application, was there any question(s) regarding driving record? if so you should have answered it there-with short accurate answer (don't need to hear how you started off as designated driver, drank some, couldn't call cab, thought you were ok to drive..)
If you fibbed here , then it will come out and your done .

if not the above then.

I would not volunteer this info during the interview, stick to what you can do for them in being the best rep for them. If DM asks directly then answer directly with short, too the point, 'I have learned my lesson' reply.

Given the HUGE surplus of reps, do you think any DM wants to go to their RM and justify the LIABILITY /RISK / COST / LEGAL NIGHTMARE of hiring a person with this on their record. You better be prepared to make the best SALE ever, yourself, if it does come to light.

Shit we hired a bankrupt guy with a DUI not long ago. Ask him how he pulled it off.
