DUI 5+ years old

Hello,

I know AZ wants a candidate that has a safe driving record. Would one DUI that’s 5+ years old (has been expunged) and one at fault accident two years ago get your offer rescinded after HR conducts a background MVR check?

I have no freaking idea but does that sound like a reliable hire to you? If this is a referral I’d do a hard pass. People always say something is “expunged” but is it really?!

Order an abstract from your state DMV, you’ll see what they will see. Depends on state law what is in the abstract will say, in my state it’s 4 years for suspensions and 3 for accidents.

With the DUI, you sound like a good fit here. We are cool with weed too!!!

expunged meaning it’s not on your criminal record. There’s no way to get it off your DMV record, it stays on your DMV record for 10 years in my state.

Yes, it’s really expunged. If you have no freaken idea your comment is pretty much useless. Thank you anyway.

Not really. Getting a DUI is a big deal and hurts you long term which is why you are asking. Whether I am right or not, I wouldn’t give a brand new car to someone who has a DUI on their record even if it was five years ago. If this is for yourself then you know that.

If it is for a referral it isn’t worth it. That’s my opinion and you’re welcome.

Never asked for your opinion. Asked if people actually knows if AZ would still hire someone with a DUI over five years old.

So what’s the MVR policy with AZ, do you know?

If you are the applicant the best thing to do is apply and find out what happens. If you’re asking for someone else, tell them to apply. You or they don’t have the job, so there’s really nothing to lose. You never know what may happen. Good luck
