Can anyone provide me with insight into the account manager position (Drug Delivery)? I’m wondering about the basics of the job, income potential, etc…

Any idea why the Iowa City territory has been open several times over the last few years?

The drug delivery person handles IV generic drugs as well as special syringes, tubing etc. The drug delivery person calls on hospitals. They used to be involved in the sales of infusion pumps but that was separated into a different salesforce a couple of years ago. Make sure you know what you are getting into. The company has experienced massive backorders which has hurt their reputation in the market.

Thanks for the input. Any idea on compensation? I like my current position, but financially it’s not a good long term fit.

There are different levels and it depends upon your experience. I know that some previous pharmaceutical representatives have been hired on at the top tier. Do not count on bonuses. With the current backorders they can be hard to achieve. Most bonuses really have nothing to do with your sales abilities. The company car is a Prius. The benefits are fair. The best benefit is a very good 401k plan. I think that a salary of 70k would be somewhere in the middle. The salaries range from the low for a junior representative and go up into the eighties for a new hire as far as I know but someone else may be able to give you a better idea on that. Try glassdoor.com for more information on salaries. They use salesforce.com as a reporting tool and it is a nightmare for this position. The position depends upon your manager. If there is high turnover I would suspect that the manager is a bear. Senior management is distant and unaccessible even though they say they promote an open door policy. The best thing about the company is stability. The turnover rate is very low.
