Does Medtronic ever get back to job applicants?

I have applied for two positions one in September and one in November. Both positions are still posted on the careers website. My resume status for both positions still states "resume under review." I haven't heard anything from human resources or anyone else for that matter. I did receive the email stating my resumes were received and I have been checking my spam folder, to ensure I don't miss anything. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

No priority to fill positions. Hiring managers recruit for themselves a majority of the time. If you didn't put someone as a referral you might as well move on or reapply with referral.

I did put someone down as a referral. The positions were two CS positions in different locations. Should I try to reach out to the DSM?.

OP, save your efforts for a better company. Medtronic is a cult like company.

But, if you must...push your referral source, NOT the DM. It is likely the DM is a nut, like most managers for these bigger corporations.

Really read my first sentence again, as it might save you a lot of headaches in your life.

you won't hear anything . . . the recruiting is the worst. They are required to post the jobs on websites even if/when they are just hiring their buddies.

Do your friends know the HR manager? You could reach out directly to him or have the friend look into it.

Also, even if the jobs are canceled they'll sit on the website for months before they get updated. When I was looking to get into Medtronic, 30%+ of the jobs that get posted get canceled.

Never gonna happen if you worked there, left to advance career and try and come back!
Most opps get filled internally or canceled which is code for "Filled internally"

I agree with the board, i have good regional sales leadership with a big med device company. I have looked at them as a possibility to advance my career, so far 0 feedback. Frustrating. It seems like the whole job market has changed, recruiters aren't much help. How does anyone find a new job anymore?

Went through the process and had the opposite experience, couldn't fault the recruitment process as they were quick and massively communicative, very positive. External persons opinion here though, so not sure if that counts?

Absolutely useless, can't make decisions, they mess people around and don't come back to you when they say they will. Overall a disappointing process which starts out looking professional but ultimately ends up a complete and utter waste of candidates time.

I wouldn't ever bother applying for a position there again. Never before have I been messed about so much and then lied to when I didn't get the position. Horrific experience having to deal with them, god only help their customers.

The only way to really get hired is to know somebody, workout getting the job and then the hiring process starts.

Just applying for a job, even if you are the perfect candidate needs to go through 7 layers of hell before it gets to the right person.

You might think in this age of the internets, things could be easier, but they've just put in more layers of BS.

Layers of BS and worse, here's a FACT you should all know when applying for a job at that place-9 times out if 10 there is no position. What they do is get external people in for fake interviews on the pretence that there is a role available. There isn't most of the time.
What they're doing is scabbing information off you -asking for presentations and how you would respond to specific scenarios. All sounds legit interview wise, until it gets to the end of the process and you've spent weeks giving them all your ideas and you get nothing, not even feedback. All they do is scab information off people, don't bother thinking for a second they'll actually have a job for you.

I spent one summer providing free consulting services. Some start - ups in the Bay were kind enough to give candidates a full day. Cannot do it any longer. Wont do it any longer. I went back to school and am learning to make dental crowns. Enough.

Agree with whats already said! did spend several years there and was part of the process on several hires. Majority of the time you need to have a relationship with the hire mgr. The final candidate is often already chosen before the job post goes out!

I read this thread and was rather disheartened- a couple of weeks back I went through the this process in the UK company and was told I didn't get the job because someone else had come up with better ideas. Nothing to do with how well I could do the job, my experience and skill set, no, they wanted me to give up intellectual property on the off chance I'd get given the job. Stupid is an organisation who thinks that just because they've given you an interview you're going to spill your guts and give them solutions because they're either too stupid or lazy to think of themselves. Scabs is definitely the correct word, I'm really glad I didn't get the job having gone through that ridiculous farcical process.

I've applied to five positions. Two immediately gave responses of not a candidate.

Two have been sitting in "under view", one has been sitting at "evaluation in progress".

I hope someone contacts me soon, but I'm thinking all the posts are correct about them hiring from within.

Yup. Former hiring manager here (and complete nut job as a previous poster mentioned...). The positions are almost always already filled by the time the position is posted. They only post because they are required to.

OP, best of luck!

Medtronic is an unethical frat boys/sorority girls type company.

Don't bother applying unless you are a 20 something r***** or unless you know somebody on the inside that has some influence.

They age discriminate.

Also, you don't really sell there, because the technology sells itself. Do yourself a favor and find a better company to work for. You are welcome.

Also, don't buy their stock because of these practices.
