Does it pertain to my job?

Why does my manager insist on handing out little projects? If it does not pertain to my day-to-day job of helping patients, why do I need to do a pet project?

I think it's not a bad idea to get exposure of a different field.

So true. You know some people, smart people, don’t want to play the stupid game. Let the rah rah people trip over themselves to get the crappy management positions. I need to get noticed! That’s fine more power to em. Successful sales people recognize how to make a lot of money have a great life and the last thing they EVER want to do is ride around with reps everyday, have meaningless, unending meetings and fill out report after report for maybe a few bucks more. Many cases of good reps out earning their bosses.
