I saw my Internal Medicine physician yesterday for my annual physical. She was going down my list of medications and said, "I see you're still on Vascepa for your triglycerides". I said yes, but I'm taking it because it has been shown to reduce MACE by 25%. She said, "Oh that's right!".
By now, V should be at the front of their minds concerning Cardiac Risk Reduction but it's still in the back of their minds as a triglyceride-lowering drug. There are no outcomes trials showing MACE reduction by lowering triglycerides only. This is, IMO, the missing link!
