What do you think that this means to most people? Sales people know that managers, dco's, vp, mgam, etc. are non-revenue generating positions, but does the mother ship know this??????

What it means is simple: the top-guns are admitting to earlier foolish hiring and creation of useless jobs. Is that a senior management that can be trusted? The investors answered that with a 3% drop in the stock price today.
Has anybody read the Jeff Kindler article in Forbes? That was another lawyer who screwed up a pharma company. Why would our Merck lawyer do any better? Buying SP was a dumb decision just like PFE buying Wyeth was a dumb decision. They are out of good ideas so they act on stupid ideas and ruin companies and people.
CEOs like to beef up their resumes. Since nothing is coming out of R&D, may as well acquire a company. Where are those well compensated dudes that sold Chrysler out to Daimler a few years back? Twenty years ago Merck said we will never merge nor acquire a company because of all the pitfalls and redundancy and, with emphasis, no added value to the stock. They even told us at a national meeting that Pfizer was stupid in acquiring Parke Davis then, followed by tons of slides to back it up. How we at Merck would never fall into that trap. I wonder why they changed their mind with SP?
