Displaced Reps Rehired?

Anyone heard of any Novartis reps who were layed off/displaced in December being rehired recently by Novartis? Even if they signed the contract that they would never work for Novartis again?

In September 2008, there were some reps who were laid-off in the Kansas City area. It was a shock to all as no one saw it coming. Fast forward 4 - 5 months from that month - 2009, they received a phone call from HR, one after the other, asking if they would like to return, but the stipulation was, they had to return ALL of the severance money, and they had to wait a few months before their healthcare, 401K would kick in again. Well, some had already spent some of the money (needed to buy a car), others had calculated that they would essentially be getting screwed by NVS for the wait period of the benefits, and some just said F-Off! The reason they were laid off in the first place, was because SOME JERK (NVS just has the innate ability to hire these types - & he's no longer with the company - WHAT A SHOCK!), came in and determined that the Kansas City area wasn't producing the ROI that he wanted to see, so HE decided on his own terms to lay off these people WITHOUT the approval from HR!!! So yes, NVS DOES DESERVE the loss of the lawsuits, because if they can't get their act together by hiring the RIGHT people in the first place, then they deserve all they get!!!

Know of a rep who was laid off in Dec who has been told by her former mgr that they will "try to bring her back" to replace a retiring rep. She signed all severance papers. There are other
displaced reps in the area who were severed at the same time she was, but they have not
heard anything. Preferential treatment?

No disrespect but why on earth would you go back?

If any of the displaced reps are STUPID enough to go back to that cesspool, then clearly it is a match made in heaven.

If they go back it is probably because they don't have any other opportunity available right now but believe me they are still looking. Remember the old saying it is easier to get another job while they still have one.

AND......You, that are still employed by NVS, better be looking and moving now! Too many in market place to believe! I should be paid to go on interviews. All they want is experience (or none) all they offer is 50K package with car and 20k commission/bonus (to start) etc..etc.

This industry has bastardized itself to the point that those with experience and tenure, cannot find anything decent because:
A. Too many in same industry out of work..Big pool to chose from.
B. Since there is a Big Pool to chose from, salaries have rocketed downwards.
C. Novartis has bad stigma attached...

Do yourselves a favor....look outside of pharma...buy a franchise...work for yourself..say to hell with big business. It may not be cushy and pay big salaries but you have dignity and self preservation.

:) Good Luck this Spring!

That's all very well but it was totally predictable. Classic demand/supply rebalancing.

If everyone stopped driving, crude oil prices would plumment.

If drug companies don't hire reps, salaries plummet.

It's called Basic Economics.
