Disease Focused Respiratory

According to the latest message from on high we are adding 43 Respiratory Disease Focused Representatives. The reality is that if a current Merck Rep posts for the position and gets it then his or her vacated position will not be filled. Rather than an increase of 43 positions it could actually be no additional head count if filled by current Merck people. If filled by someone other than a current Merck Rep then the position will be an Inventiv person. If a Merck person takes the position then the representatives from the original district will pick up the coverage on the accounts that the new Disease Focused Rep once called on. This would actually be a net loss in employees. Pretty devious by upper management. Also no one was made aware of these postings on the Career Link as they close on on 6-14-13.

I am on diabetes side but have sold respiratory and have specialty experience. When I inquired about the posts I was told no diabetes reps will be able to post in the region because they want them focused on J/J. Also informed CTLs have already "decided" on who they want in the slots. In other words, don't call us, we will call you. So much for a career pathway. Ho hum

Seems to me there needs to be an increase in DF diabetes positions or a split out of diabetes and cardio into separate DFs. High importance specialists need to be seen often but this doesn't seem so possible in big or far from home territories...

Somebody up in honcho land needs to put their noodle in gear!

Me thinks the cream will have the opportunity...all others in respiratory might be candidates for the cut. Maybe this is the trend we'll see for all divisions???? Think managers already know....and I think now is the time they are looking at who works and who just looks like they work! Stay tuned.

Regarding post #3, KOL can't be seen in big or far from home territories....seriously? Would that just be too much to ask? They don't want you there every week anyway....

Seems like the lipid diabetes bag is too full. Add on big account list for those reps and you get slow going...poor traction.

Big KOL = a pampering call....
