Director of Field Services

To the last poster, and I am not the original poster, it would of been helpful if you gave better info.

What division are you interviewing for? Covidien is going through changes right now, but every company is doing the same thing due to changes in healthcare (Obamcare, reprocessing, and a a shift in customer expectations of a vendor)

Covidien is a great company, the problem this year is that quotas were set too high. I would expect that to be corrected next year. Not sure what you are being offered or where the territory is, but I would definitely do more research.

He was probably laid off like everyone else in the division. No loyalty at Covidien. Buy and ruin is their motto.

Agreed... Seems like every week you get an email about some new VPon board who handles such vital stuff like: Vice President of Internal Affairs for Employee PTO Administration Service...

No one knows who they are and within 6 months, they are gone...

And when they do lay you off, they sneak in a very broad additional non-compete clause in your severance package that makes sure you can not be hired by any company that has any product that resembles any product Covidien makes. Not just the division you were let go from. Sneaky snakes!

they rely on fact that most people won't fight that crap.. Bottom line is that a BROAD non compete does not hold up to well anywhere.. BTW, Depending on what state you are from, just about the only thing they can hold you to is for Confidentiality and Trade secrets..

Agreed but it does scare some potential employers away.
