Didn't see that one coming

Can't see how they can merge sales teams without layoffs!! I know my territory doesn't need 4 reps!! It barely needs 2.

Gotta a feeling we will be waiting by the phone sometime in the next 2 weeks.
Very similar set up prior to layoffs after Edarbi.

That Contrave issue when Orexigen leaked study data was the start of Contrave death. The nails on the coffin was when they decided to invest in oncology and GI. The obesity market is still owned by phentermine and will be. Contrave wasn't meant to be a Billion $$$ product. I started looking last quarter and if you're just starting now, you're too late. Most companies screen during Q1 and sign/ train in Q2 to be fully functional by Q1 next year. Good luck! Update those LinkedIn and Indeed profiles.

There were lay-offs after Edarbi? Didn't see that in our Region (truth)..

We know there are going to be tweaks with existing products; Dexilant with sol u tabs and Uloric as an extended release med (and new dosing), then you have that powerful new indication for Brintellix (which is impacting in its self).

This gives us opportunity to sell the heck out of Contravene and make bank until we stop selling it. It is a great drug and I will miss selling it.

ONLY to nudge growth; it's my other products full steam. BTW just watch how low Contrave will be in the product mix percentage wise. Right?

We find out soon.

Hey dipfuck. There were layoffs after Edarbi failed and alogliptin got delayed. They happened in January 2012. About 800 people lost their jobs. Takeda is screwed and we are screwed.

Now what? Here comes he chorus of lay offs? Dah,obvious ok. But you know there's so much more to happen?

I said it here over a month ago. The company announced 3000 layoffs worldwide and stated mostly in R&D. How many do you think were in R&D? I said 2000 from there and 1000 from US Sales force. That's a 1/3 of sales. And the rest is in another thread

if you feel blind sided and didnt see this coming then you should keep up on press releases! Every press release lately has said "Takeda will either walk away or go full force ahead"....wake up! And no, this isnt good news for any sales team- they dont need everyone if we dont get something new!!!

Takeda hasn't been able to buy a clue now for almost a decade.

The Lost Decade at Crapkeda
When will the dipshits ever wake up? Takeda was and is ACTOS ONLY....that's it. Takeda reps did not make Actos a great drug. Actos made dipshit reps look great!! Problem is, these reps were able to move up to management roles based on the false theory that THEY sold actos, when the reverse was true. Now we're stuck with douchebags in management that really don't have a clue trying to run things. Take a look at anyone in a leadership position and see if any of them have any sort of experience from outside the company??? Why are those who spent their whole time here the biggest douche bags?? They do a year or two in each role and rearrange the chairs on the titanic and then move on before they are revealed to be the frauds that they are. Eventually it will catch up to them.....and we all suffer.

Pretty much nailed it. This company relies way too much on paying doctors once that stops, well.

True. Very very true. A blind monkey with ADHD could have been a super star selling Actos. 11 months post launch the major competitor that has 80% market share is pulled. Almost 70% of that volume is dumped in Actos' lap. Then a little further down the line that last major competitor has a label change for serious side effects. And we all thought we were hot shit. We didn't build the demand for the class and never had to claw for share and volume. It was all just dumped in our laps and we were talking about how great and smart we were. Now you see how complete idiots we were. This place sucks.

I say bring on the layoffs. The severance packages here are amazing and I already am stepping all over my sales counter parts in every single on of my offices. I think only cutting 1,000 of us reps would be too little. In all honesty, we could cut 1,500 and I'd still only need to work 3.5 days a week.

THIS PLACE SUCKS!

Not sit if Takeda did any acquisitions in US but you should see the state of the ones done in emerging markets. We have to scrap in this in less than 5 years.

Anyone know if we've got any new product acquisitions in the works? That's the only way I think they wouldn't start looking to reduce footprints.

Sorry but you are wrong about Contrave. It was Complete Care Pharmacy. We still grew after that news. The goal was to capture every script through insurance and because that didn't happen (after year 1 there was a 20% pull through at the insurance level 80% cash pay, mostly for $70), the company lost a ton.

In fact that news helped us get out of having to pay for the study and get out of this deal.
