The patent expirations are part of it but not to main reason. The FDA and Government has been distroying our industry for years and they want a generic market for cheap drugs. Obama wants a more socialized market and part of his fucked up health care bill emphasizes a generic market and more control in the Pharmaceutical industry. Do you really understand the healthcare package that was passed? It will distroy this country because for every 1 good policy passed there are 20 that will distroy. I will give you an example. In the bill everyone can have their children on their insurance until 26 yrs of age. That sounds great but guess what? Your insurance bill will go up because that increases costs and it is passed to the consumer. Now you have to pay for somebody elses 26 year old to have insurance. I am not against having 26 year olds on their parent's plan but they should pay the full cost not you or I. Also did you know that there will be a 5 % sales tax on your house when you sell it. Yes 5% additional tax which means you have 5% less in you equity when you sell. Why? It is to pay for Pooky on welfare and all the scum that does not work. There are many new taxes and laws in this bill that are poison which will tax you more and increase your insurance costs all to pay for pooky who has 15 kids to 15 different dads that do not pay child support. Where do you think Novartis gets most of their revenues? Over in Europe from countries that have socialized medicine and are now broke like Greece. All these European countries have run up big government deficits to pay for all those wonderful free socialized programs that suck. Now they have no money and guess what? Novartis has no money which accounts for 50% of revenues over there. You think that helps the situation over here. Obama wants a European society which is nuts. Oh, the national media just announced that 12 new energy companies that were subsidized (Keynesian theory) by Obama and the government are bankrupt and will cost the tax payer 6 billion and yes he has run up the deficit another 6 trillion in 3 years. As a result, this is just the icing on the cake and yes he does have allot to do with the demise of our industry. He wants social justice which is why we are in big touble. Obama does have allot to do with our situation and is glad that this industry is laying off. Hopefully we will be laying him off this Nov. The Republicans most likely will gain the senate back so lets hope they also get the presidency and rid this health care bill.

He did sign it into law but the bill was written by both members of the republican and democrat congress, so to call it his bill is stupid in the least. The real driver of cost are the retirees, which are the opposit ends of the spectrum than 26 yr olds.. Rates for keeping your kids on the books will be passed on the the family who for a family plan, if you don't pay for the "family plan" than it wont affect your spend.

To say that the majority of taxes out there are being used to pay for food stamps, baby healthcare is just ignorant and shows you have a fundamental accounting problem. Besides, Pookey's portion is nominal to you and the small portion that does go to Pookey keeps her and her kids off the street and stealing from you; so think of it as insurance policy to keep your crime rate down.

Social programs are a big spend in most European countries but that's not the driver of their indebtedness. Germany is doing great but the club med countries on the Mediterranean have a big problem in collection of taxes. For example, Greece has on the books only 5000 millionaires that live in the entire country. Most realistic people that study European financials and debt agree that there are more than 5000 people with million or more in cash to take a tax from but they evade because, unlike the USA, there is no IRS and what was of it was completely gutted by Greece gov't in the 1990's when they listened to their own version of cookey Hannity and neo-con cronies.

That's a good aim, because monopolies wind up jacking up the prices on all goods and it takes responsible government to ensure that capitalism does not go 'unhinged'.

Firstly, Newt Gingrich was a PROPONENT of the indivicual mandate in 1994 and will back it again. The real problem is that due to a supreme court case in 1860's you can't sue to suspend a tax until it is actually levied. That's why they put the individual mandate to kick in many years after the true start of the so-called Obama-care. It will already be in place by the time anyone actually possesses standing to sue. He's way smarter than the rest of us.
