New national sales director is good dude, but BUL is a self-absorbed Didi-ite and marketing team are young initiates in the good 'ole boy network. The product is a blockbuster, unless Lilly screws it up.

Are you referring to the imaging agent?

There may be some incredible potential here, but it may lie more in the drug development area. With something like this, at least we know what we are trying to accomplish. Maybe.

haha blockbuster? Who is going to pay for it? What changes if a Dr. "knows" you have Alzheimers- you get the same treatment either way. Knowing that you have it isn't going to change how they treat you since no cure.

If a drug comes out that significantly changes the disease state then I see this being a big test- but by that time numerous companies will have tests out. Not saying its not a good product/test- but no way is this a blockbuster by any means.

Being a medical professional myself, let me assure you that a diagnosis is critical to the proper care of AD patients. Often, the most significant impacts of the disease are not to the patient herself (it's about 70% females, maybe mostly because many men die prematurely for other reasons) - not the patient, but the caregiver, especially when the caregiver just happens to be the spouse or significant other. It's critical to get a diagnosis, but often this takes years.

One major concern might be that premature diagnoses are made - or that a vast hidden population with AD exists - and that could completely destroy Med-caid/care ... really we are playing with fire here and hopefully our entire culture does not go down in flames.

On the brighter side, remember that the very best preventative medicine for depression and even AD is physical exercise. Any reason we have for prescribing physical exercise is a good reason, even if it's some unproven medicine from a major neuroscience firm.
