Some "anonymous" person must have told the media. Anyone who doesn't think that was purposely put out there by the company wouldn't be the sharpest tool in the shed. Same result as a public announcement. BP knows the company probably got a weak offer and is desperate to find bidders for a money burning carcass.

It is doubtful DNDN just happened to choose JP Morgan. I have been saying for a year that the future of the company is tied to the bondholders. JP Morgan underwrote the 620M convert. JP Morgan wants their wealthy bondholder clients to be paid in full or major egg on face. They probably stepped in.
