Degree required?

I was contacted by a recruiter about a sales position with forest. I do not have a degree, and I explained it to her and was very up front about it. She still wants to forward my info to the hiring manager. She said she thought they would overlook it. That was almost a week ago. She thought she would have a answer same day. Is this even a possibility?

You need a new recruiter. no pharma will look at your resume. But you can buy your degree from a shit hole online school cuz they don't care where your degree is from.

Your recruiter probably just said that because she was too much of a wuss to tell you that you're wasting your time and hers and that you should just try for a job at Tire Kingdom.

A college degree is required at Forest. At Abbott labs its not . The new Abbott chairman Richard Gonzolas only has a high school diploma. If you don't believe it go to the abbott board and see for yourself.

Here's an idea....just go get a frickin' degree. Do like the rest of us did. Go to classes, learn the material and do the work to get the degree. Otherwise, it only shows you don't care enough about being educated to go through the effort. You may be a smart person, but having the degree shows you have the character to go through the effort of attending classes and carrying through on things you start. It's a yardstick that society measures potential employees by. Chances are you'll always struggle and wish you had if you don't.

Yep, I agree. The home study and off site training can be difficult. Forest needs to know you have the ability to learn and test in a classroom setting.

Call that stupid bitch and tell her she is an idiot

I was unaware that in today's society you could get a decent job without a degree. As far as I know Forest would never even consider hiring a person without a college degree.

Forest and 99% of all Pharmaceutical companies DO require a 4-year degree. I have only heard of BI (Which is having layoffs today) and Abbott that may not.

10 years ago, the "Pharmaceutical Industry" was a respected field. Today, it is just a notch above Enterprise (no disrespect to enterprise) as DM's and RD's will tell you that "Forest, has NEVER had layoffs".... which is true for now. Also, they will say "We will start you at a fair salary $52k without experience, and a "Golden Opportunity" to make a lot of money in commission.

If you think "A lot of money is $5-$10k per year" then by all means apply. Your now talking $60-$70K MAX in your first couple years, and that is if by some chance you are in an area where the drugs are actually covered under MC plans.

You will be treated like a kid, having inexperienced DM's riding with you once every 6 weeks, telling you how much you suck, pissing off the offices you are attempting to build a relationship with. Your degree means NOTHING, it can be in english or political science, they don't care. If you want the HONEST truth about the pharmaceutical industry? Ask your primary care Doctor what he or she thinks about Pharma reps. That will give you a REAL perspective of what this industry has turned into.

Best of luck, and remember that this site ANYONE can make posts, typically they are all negative and juvenile, but that just gives you another perspective of the kind of people you will be working with if you are hired.

TRUTH is spoken here-nice to see an accurate posting. Think about it-Forest has THOUSANDS of reps of all different levels of ability, tenure, integrity, backgrounds, personalities, perceptions, etc.
The ONLY thing they ALL have in common is a degree.
I've been here over ten years and I can verify the accuracy of this post. I got 10-15% raises for 5 years in a row. That doesn't happen anymore, not even close, so there is a HUGE variance in pay-I make twice as much as my partners. Lots of good reps are left in the field because they don't want to be a part of the embarrassing management team and culture plus we make plenty of money (six figure + bases) so why even go there?
Here's the problem-management knows who we are and with six or more of us calling on offices they see us as high paid and disposable. We don't buy the tactics the poster above described, because we KNOW they're wrong for so many reasons. Gosh forbid we speak up or tell our partners what a good rep truly is and how to do our jobs with integrity.
Therefore, most of us are "persona non gratas" and many targeted for termination and having their lives torn to shreds. It's a nightmare.
