I had Ms. Henderson for a day last spring for something called... ...I dont know. Its my drinking time. Anyway, it was a big deal with multiple people from East Hanover riding with all the reps within my city. Steve Whatshisname was there as well. Some Muslim guy from HR. A Chinaman doctor who was smarter than anyone in the room even when he was sleeping.
So the actual day of the ride along I was hung over as hell as usual. Had to be reeking of Bacardi but she never said anything. In those days my ability to put together a sentence was virtually impossible. Somehow she never figured it out. About mid morning I had to hit my bottle of "Diet Coke" to prevent me from shaking so bad I tore off my steering wheel. Debbie said nothing.
At lunch, she mentioned how she had noticed I was in management development and based on the calls she had observed that morning that I need to accelerate my progress as I had innate ability to teach and lead people. I was rather thunderstruck by this and excused myself to use the restroom (where I actually hit the bar and got a double shot of Chivas Regal).
Finally I am loaded and can "be myself" and sort of unload. I dont care at this point. I note that the biggest problem Novartis has is political. Lotrel, Zelnorm, Galvus... ...we need to get WAY better connected to the FDA than we are. While we are on that I point out that the current administration has done more to kill pharma jobs than if we substituted poison for Diovan in our shipments.
NOW we have hit a sore spot with Debbie... ...lets just say she doesnt like me so much at this stage of the day. Obamacare is going to FUEL pharma growth she instructs me. Hmmmm.... ....I never mentioned Obamacare but I will play along. Will Obamacare "fuel" pharma growth as well as his policies have ignited this raging real estate market? Why dont the banks just sell the foreclosures for what they can get and then "reset" the values of these homes? Say what, I said? The banks are on the hook for the entire amount of those original mortgages, Dear. They can reset the values all they want but the capital that was originally invested has to be repaid by someone or its a loss. You get that right? No, I dont get it. These banks are highly profitable. They should do the right thing for the COMMUNITY.
I drank the rest of my "Diet Coke." I am not using many quotes here because I am working from (a very impaired and drug induced) memory but the above happened.
She RAN LARGE PARTS OF THIS COMPANY FOR MANY YEARS. I will leave it up to the reader to ascertain why.
